Just found out the same thing. I hate surprises. BIDVILLE? Good grief, what a name. What next, may I ask?

Yeah - sounds kinda corny - the only thing I can figure for a name like that - is it may be a good term to use for searches - whenever THAT will be...

I don't care what they call themselves, as long as they keep doing what they're doing!

I was the 1st to list in my category a little over a week ago. Tonight, I have several bids, and even some competition on an item. Something that rarely happened at Yahoo.

Also, I noticed a new "add to watch list" icon. They answer emails with a person. The site navigates easily. I think I'M IN LOVE!!

Also, vaudville was very hip, in it's time. Hooville, Hootersville (wasn't that the Petticoat Junction town), I really don't care what kind of ville they are.

capefeartrading....not to worry about the emails you sent out. When they type auxpal in their browser, it not only takes them to bidville (don't care much for that name, but a lot easier to remember than auxpal), but it also shows them the name change while they are on their way to the site.

I am a brand new auction user and had planned
on listing my items with auxpal after spending so much time in evaluating and checking out all of the others...I refuse to use Yahoo and ebay..and now this...I think I made a mistake in choosing this site.

Glass100 I agree they can call themselves any thing they want as long as they keep up the effort. I listed items on amazon (again) no change from before (no hits, no bids) Also listed on Lycos did make one sale but went almost 2 days and couldn't log in. Have made one sale on Bidville with another pending. I'm still slowly moving auctions to Bidville at this moment it is my choice for slow moving auctions. I think it is time for AW to give Bidville its own catagory!!!!!
Good Luck everyone where ever you go

I had to wonder when I first read the name also. However, the service is great, the sales better and I am doing well. Besides what kind of name is "Yahoo". Or "lowestbids" or really any of the others. AuctionAddict probably has the best name but service, sales, etc are lacking. Guess we sell where the people are and don't worry to much about what we call it.

I really DO like BidVille MUCH, MUCH better and like I said - whenever it's able to come up on searches - going alphabetically - it'll be one of the first! Whooppee! I absolutely love their customer service!! *****AAAAA+++++!!!!

Yes, I agree - BidVille needs their own forum here on AuctionWatch. I had posted a memo in the Moderator's Corner on this same thing - last week I think it was (?) - and I was told to email [email protected] - I did - and I never heard anything back. So ya'll that agree that BidVille needs it's own forum - go into the Moderator's Corner (just to make sure that's the correct e-mail address) and ya'll send e-mails too!

With their new name, I envision the site being run by Archie, Veronica, Jughead, Betty and Reggie!!

Or maybe Clark Kent ...

(I never could figure out all those 'Villes)

With Yahoo charging looks like all of us sellers are looking for a new home and as we keep going to these Little sites they cant handle the traffic. Too bad they did not pay attention and buy a few extra servers. I don’t know about you all but I’m just not getting the bids on the little sites, even if I try to give it away. We need to find a site that lets us advertise a bit to bet peoples attention, does any one know of any. If so email me please. [email protected].

Whether you like or dislike a name is a highly subjective thing. People will probably split 50-50 on that. Personally, I think Bidville is an improvement over Auxpal which I never really liked. Bidville will be easier to remember and says more about what the site is all about. Also gets rid of any unfortunate associations with PayPal. Glad they did it now before they get a lot bigger. As others have pointed out, performance is what will count in the end, not the name.

Just had another sale on Bidville (instant buy). Tried to get to MY ACCOUNT on lycos no such luck SERVER ERROR. Bidville is my choice however its gonna take time to get bidders there. All my EOA notices and SHIPPING NOTICES have invite to www.bidville.com Hope it drags a few bidders over. We all need to email AW and try to get Bidville its own POST SITE.

I do like BidVille better than AuXpal as names go but I am still on the lookout for Cindy Lou and the Grinch!

he he...never thought about it until I read this thread....wonder what we would think if we never heard the name and suddenly a new auction site popped up named ebay? Sounds a bit like pig latin. But we are used to hearing it.
If two new small auction sites just came into being ~ one named ebay and one named bidville....
ROTFL

Good point aramatha. When I first heard the name ebay a few years ago I thought "What a dumb name for an auction site". It tells you nothing about what they do - thought it had something to with a body of water somewhere. Of course they have built that brand to mean auctions in everyone's mind now - but certainly if you started from ground zero bidville is a better name than ebay.

I don't really care about the name but I am just concerned about when all the bidders are going to start coming. I was also the first to put up on auction in a particular category but still no bids but a lot more sellers in the category. We as sellers know we have left Yahoo! but the bidders don't. I did however still have my free auctions still running on Yahoo and updated them with the Auxpal logo telling them to check out my other auctions. I hope this works.

Give it some time raptorkitty. I put up over 500 auctions on BidVille last week (actually they put them up for me from my data). Just got my 1st sale last night. As you noted, the sellers are pouring in there now (thanks to good customer service and no fees). Where sellers go, buyers will eventually follow. There will be some lag time before that happens, probably several months, but it is inevitable if the auction categories at BidVille keep filling up at the pace they are now.

AuxPal/BidVille is catching on quick with sportscard sellers. Yesterday (1-26) Auxpal Sportscards: 33,000 - Bidbay 29,000. Today (1-27) Auxpal Sportscards 38,000 - Bidbay 27,500. Bidbay has been around over a year. Auxpal has been around 2 months and has 10,000 more sportscard listings.

I also was the first to list in a category, and now there are over 500 listings. I don't care what they call themselves, I think it is is a very user friendly site. When I have contacted them on several occasions, a very helpful "person" replies very quickly, something that never happened on Yahoo. I am wondering how are buyers going to know about the site, has anyone seen any advertising?

Allright!!! Sounds good to me about the advertising! I like the user freindlyness that BidVille has when putting up auctions. The only thing I don't like is the counter, it shows how many hits my auctions have even when I view it, where as Yahoo use to only show how many hits you have not including you the seller. But that is something so minor to be concerned about. I just love to watch the increasing numbers of auctions. I put mine up when there only 93,000 listings and now it is up to 150,000+ and growing. Also, just today, my category had only 24 and when I just checked it is up to 41 listings. Pretty cool!!! Go Bidville!!!
