I have checked out three sites, Sell.com, Bargin & Haggle and Dealspin.com all using the negotiation auction format. Each of these companies claim to have patent pending on this method? Personally, I am in favor of the basic online auction format. I just don't have the time to explore these new platforms. What's your take?

Is it auctioning when they use the negotiation format? Isn't that "haggling" not auctioning?
"A public sale in which property or items of merchandise are sold to the highest bidder."
I would think these new formats shouldn't even call themselves "auction" sites unless there is TRUE auctioning going on.
Negotiations are just that... negotiations. I sold some on bargain and haggle, and it was just that. I offered a price, they negotiated a lower price. That would not be auctioning.
Storefronts, BIN, and all those little extras take away from the very "addictive" auction format and process.
My final take? Those sites aren't AUCTION sites, they are negotiation sites. A new online animal.

I stand corrected, they are not actually auction sites, nor do they claim to be. But I would still categorize them as competition within the online auction industry.
