I put up two auctions # 157685 and then 3.25 hours later I put up a second auction #157719
That is only 10 listings and hour. eBay gets 7 or 8 listings per second. I know that carnaby is no ebay (yet) but I hope it does well. I would love to leave eBay.
They will need to spend some serious money on advertising.

Rob,
Are you making sales on carnaby? If so what are you selling?

No, I am a buyer. I have purchased a few things on Carnaby so far ... just waiting for more sellers to show up there

10 items per hour for a third tier site is pretty darn good. My guess would be how well the sell through rate is?

Yourdesigns,
What do you mean "third tier site"
I know what really matters is what percentage actually sells. I am hoping since I am selling something that no one on carnaby has that might help. For that reason I will also try yahoo although in the past I have had no success there.

first I gotta tell ya, the Tarkay made me drool (sigh)
I've had a bit of luck at Carnaby, 27 successful auctions close in the last two days, and have several current auctions with bids (low priced items, but items on their way out the door), so hang in there. I know of a couple auctioneers there who have had several high dollar sales, but they also compliment their listings with lower & mid range priced goods too. best of luck,

Here are some Carnaby stats borrowed from Dim's website.
http://members.fortunecity.com/dimview/
07/17 08/13 09/01 09/17 10/02 10/09 10/31
202 3,469 2,436 4,502 3,594 4,033 4,852
It looks like the listing numbers are going up, albeit at a slow rate.

robnzak,
did it make you drool because you liked it? Do you think that it is too expensive of an item to sell on carnaby even though it is about one third of retail?
I could go with some art that is under $100 but most people will not have heard of the artist and I noticed those are not selling at all.

CJ...I drooled because it's a fabulous work of art and it's listed with a great opening bid in my opinion. I'd bid on it in a heartbeat, but last week I robbed my piggy bank, sold sperm and pawned my kids to get enough cash to buy the entire library of a judge at an estate sale. Perhaps, once I sell off a few of those books, I'll revisit.
I understand what you mean about "unheard" of artists, but I don't think it could hurt to test the waters with a couple lower priced pieces, I actually like those unknowns, good art by someone nobody has heard of is still good art.
