Ok all just got this email in a nut shell here are the new B& H FVFs effective December 6:
Final Sales Price Transaction Fee
$0.00 - $24.99 $1.25
$25.00 - $99.99 5% of Final Sales Price
$100.00 - $1499.99 $5 plus 2.5% of Final Sales Price over $100
$1500 and over $40 plus 1.25% of Final Sales Price over $1500
When they raised the minimum to 50 cents there was a significant drop in my sales. With this one, well, I don't know.....
They will need sellers to get buyers and there is NO WAY I can function at a minimum transaction fee of $1.25.
Let me go check out ewanted again.......

I don't understand, so perhaps someone will enlighten me.
Why would a fee increase cause sales to drop?
Most 'buyers' don't care what the fees are cause they don't have to pay them. Is the fee paid by the buyer at B&H?

No the Buyer does not pay. However, more and more offers become less acceptable as the fees increase. At first when it was only a straight 5% I was making multiple sales on a daily basis. Then when 50 cent minimum came into place, I found I had to do a lot more haggling. You'll be surprised how many people walk away over 50 cents! I've already grown tired of the haggling especially with all the $1.00 offers that come in. At $1.25 minimum fee do you really want to deal with $1.00 offers???

I didn't get any notice about this. Did everybody else that sells on BnH get this email?

It sounds like B&H does not want any low priced items on its site. Dosn't Amazon charge a buck minimum for books sold on its site or part of its site or something like that? That certainly gets rid of the very low end items in a hurry. I can really see the next price increases at ebay being in this form of a minimum FVF. For ebay, that has to be the next step in getting the higher value items ratio higher and Meg fullfilling her promise of doubling revenue in four years that she made to the shareholders.

Ah, so when fees increased, you listed less, and then haggled for higher prices to cover the additional fees of what you did list, which in turn reduced your sales.
understood. Thanks for the clarification.

B&H sucks.
I listed items over there and had nothing but NPB. They COST me money over at B&H, and they frankly don't care.

As soon as I saw that email this morning, I pulled all my listings. I can't afford to deal with that minimum and I refuse to jack up shipping on my customers to cover that.
And you're right, people are grouchy down to the last 50 cents, and then half the time they don't pay. B&H still owes me for some lost FVF when customers didnt' pay from back in August.
They either are getting flooded with too many low dollar items, or they want to be a high dollar item site.

I chose not to pull my listings although I will not relist them. However, EVERY offer I receive until my listings run out will be walked away from and I will tell the buyer that the reason is because of B& H's fees. Also I am letting them know where to find the same items (elsewhere) in the comments box.
As far as getting credits. I have had the monthly fight with that "CPA" over there. In October I finally wisened up. On October 31 I sent them an email with a list of credits that I applied for that I expect to see on my October invoice. Low and behold they were all there! I have to do that one more time for the few NPB's I have left over and then I can close the book on Bargain and Haggle!

I did not think the fees unreasonable. And I have never had a non paying bidder. what are you selling? Maybe that makes the difference.

On BnH deadbeats run 20% to 25% for me. You are very lucky to not have any deadbeats. I sell mainly in the Barbie and Breweriana categories. I think deadbeats are a problem for most sellers on BnH.

Their not being able to make it at 50 cents minimum per transaction suggests that there are not enough buyers at the site to me. I can sell a $10 item on Ebay for 80 cents, and probably sell it. I don't see an incentive to give B&H a try.

I've had more than my fair share of non-paying bidders on B&H, but I always request a FVF. They also send another email to the buyer telling them they better pay up. If they don't pay up and get 3 (I believe it is 3) FVF filed, they are kicked off B&H.
I also list on Bidbay and 4 out of 5 of my last bidders are non-paying. I'm considering finding another place to list. I am sick and tired of the non-paying bidders and they play games too.
I've tried SYI and hardly get any looks. Bidville was the same. I used to sell some off Yahoo, but hardly get any looks and I don't want to pay just to list and no sell.(does anyone?) I've tried Amazon and once they changed their venue, I got lost in the shuffle. Are there any other games in town?
I sell collectibles, mostly older glass and pottery, but have expanded into other types of collectibles. nothing that is a must have but a "I want".

In another week Yahoo should transform into a busy auction site with the new nickel listings. I think it may be another month before the listings appear in very large numbers and that's when it should be worth listing there again.
There wil only be 2 real chances to sell at auction ... either ebay or the new Yahoo.
The no-traffic third tier sites are a waste of time for most sellers.

I like BNH because I can sell my excess inventory quicker and my suppliers give me better prices because of that. eBay is still my main source of income but Yahoo and BNH are a nice compliment. Just have to figure out a way to automate my posting to these sites as well...

llama_lady I have found Bay9.com to be a good auction site. I have listed many things on B&H and have had no sales from them and my merchandise is BRAND NEW. I gave up on them. Glad I did when I did. The fees whent up right after I quit listing there.
