Need to spread out a bit more. Already use the Bay, Yahoo and BidVille. Anyone that sells at BidBay posting here? Interested in peoples experiences with page views and sell rate.
Thanks in advance!

Kodi,

I've tried bidbay, have been for a while. Usually the only person that bids on my auctions there is the CEO or at least that is his username. I really never sold to anyone else there. Pretty dead there, and the site is really not that good, it's pretty slow, and if alot of people were to move over to it I am sure that site would crash, because it probably could not take the load. At least that has been my experience with bidbay. I wish it would take off, but don't think it ever will, only sellers go there, no buyers.....

kodiheglin,

You probably won't find too many posting here about BidBay. Prior to having to have a CC here to post, BidBay discussion was banned because of many problems.

The Bidville postings are mild compared to what used to happen when BidBay was discussed.

Personally, you're better of not listing there. Supposedly, there is all this traffic, yet there are only a handful of people who actually post there. Makes me wonder if there are actually the number of members the site claims.

Also, the number of listings on the home page is deceptive. That number is NOT the number of auctions, but rather the number of items. If there is 1 dutch auction with a quantity of 100, the count is 100 and not 1 like all the other sites report.

Thanks ruben and toollady..I figured it must be pretty slow there since nobody came to post a comment. I too was wondering about the amount of listings they claim. I'll keep looking around..thanks for the info!

Kodi I sell at Bidbay. Things honestly have been as slow there as everywhere else. However they have started TV ads in some major markets and I would anticipate things to continue to grow nicely there. I have had nothing but good things to say about things there in the past year or so.

Discussion of Bidbay is not banned here any longer. I read the TOS again for this site and nothing of it is mentioned. The past rule was a moderator rule. Auctionsaloon has nothing to do with Bidbay. However if you would like me to inquire about auctionsaloon being tied to large sellers of pornography, we can start another thread. I dont look down on those who enjoy that kind of thing but I dont want my business tied in with it. I saw all I needed to when the owner of the site in his profile lists his interest and I quote "Sex Sex And Money". There was also a link to his adult toy and video link at the bottom of the page. I have heard conflicting stories as to whether or not the link has been removed. I have also heard that nothing is going on there but a Bidbay and sometimes other auctions bash fest. Last I looked Auctionsaloon had less than 2000 listings and really has not grown. The only thing growing would seem to be the low level of class on the message boards. As such, I have not returned to the site in about 2 months. A "waste of time" is a matter of opinion and left to each ones personal experience.
I am going to try listing a few things in their dollar section and see if I can get some interest over there. Maybe...(knock on wood)
I agree on the porn thing, nasty crap that I don't want to run into all of the time. Especially since sometimes my daughter (13)shops the online auctions with me.

Kodi, Like alot of the other small sites, it helps to introduce yourself on the boards after you get your stuff up. People will check out your auctions when you are new.

well ballz......you don't want to be a part of a site that sells porno??? Last time I looked Bidbay did also.....and I am not sure about ebay as I do not buy porno....are you being self righteous? Are you telling me you have NEVER in your life watch an X rated movie???? NEVER?????????????????????? I think, if used correctly with one's spouse, a good X rated movie can be quite enjoyable, at least for a couple of laughs. Like Baseball, it can become obsessive as can anything. I knew once that you wanted no part of Bidbay because of the history of theft of AW templates......but "Just a little talk with G.T. made it right".....so I think you have spoken out of both sides of your mouth. porno, ballz, is EVERYWHERE, and one must makes ones own decisions about whether one wants to partake in it or not. I consider what I do with my husband of 31 years behind closed doors to be our business.....
Auction Saloon is a very mild mannered place that allows no bashing on the boards, far far less than AW allows.......there can be an occasional funny about ones experience at Bidbay...after all, if nothing else, Bidbay makes for good entertainment. CERTAINLY Auction Saloon has no ties with Bidbay or any other auction site to my knowledge, nor did I imply that it did. The title of this section is "Other auction sites" of which AS is....BTW, I sold more there last month than I did at ebay......and as of yet, no fees. That is also where Giving @ Home took their charity auctions. I think the founder of that fine charity is a kind and upstanding citizen who was treated like DIRT at Bidbay and without cause. We have required no moderations on the AS threads and we do have sales, not for funny money as BB does, no contests, and speaking for myself only, I enjoy being there. IT IS ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE AUCTION SITE AND UNTIL YOU TRY IT, DON'T KNOCK IT. I HAVE TRIED BIDBAY .......hurl

It seems we have another case of someone not listening. #1 I stated I have no problem with people who watch or enjoy porn. #2 The owners of Bidbay or Ebay do not SELL PORN THEMSELVES (as far as I know). The owners of A.S. are active in the Porn business and A.S. has had links to the adult site on the bottom of the pages
I went over there today and saw:

about 1400 auctions

ENDLESS Bidbay bashing on the other auctions area

Administrators with links to discount adult videos on their posts.
On a POSTIVE note, it looks like the links at the bottom of the page to the adult pages have been removed or disabled.
And lastly, what I do or not do in my personal life has nothing to do with this. One is business the other is "pleasure" and from a BUSINESS standpoint, I feel that I want to stay as far away from the porn industry as possible. For example, I COULD sell cards put out by Hustler magazine. They have had sets for about 10 years and other companies have done them as well. I am sure if I carried them, they would sell nicely for me. However, that is not a direction I choose to take my business. That is it, plain and simple. Nothing more to say or respond to.
well ballz...without one, there would not be another...in other words, if people didn't make or sell porn, then there would be none for you or me to watch......
Bashing??????? Oh honey I have THREAD after THREAD in my files where people were allowed to bash me by name on Bidbay, after I was wrongfully suspended and unable to defend myself......so I know all about bashing......
I will not respond to this any more. I have far too much class to do so...good day and may all your ballz be happy

Buyers and Sellers of adult items don't buy anything else?

What difference does it make if adult items are available on a site. As long as there is a way for little eyes not to inadvertantly run across them, I don't see what the problem is. Adult items are big business and can bring a site a multitude of bidders.

Ok let me say this and try this again. There is a big difference between being on a site that has adult items and the OWNER of the site promoting offsite business ventures of adult items. Of course adult buyers buy other things. Lol I have no problem with people who enjoy that kind of thing. In its proper place it is harmless fun. (though the religious right might argue that lol) However Balls and Strikes collectibles has to decide where as a business it belongs. I am partnered with a stamp and coin dealer for my store. I would not parter with an adult entertainment dealer. To sell on an auction site where the owner promotes the adult industry on his site is not a place where we want to do business. There is a difference between promoting auctions of adult items and promoting OTHER SITES that sell $10 adult videos.

Is it acceptable for users of this auction site to also promote offsite sales of there items?

Is this a site that wants to succeed, or is it more of an ego trip for the owners to say they have an auction site?

I'm trying to figure out the method of the madness here.

It is also a site where owners encourage and even participate in bashing of other sites. IMO that is a very low class way to run a business.

Ok STRICTLY from an auction site perspective, the site has been live for months with little to no growth. It has rarely if ever had more than 2000 listings (ok except when it was an adult only auction site, which for those who dont know, it was before it became an everything site)
And as far as I know, AW is the ONLY site that allows members to talk about and bash other sites. (Except when Ed the Idiot over at Bidville finds it to his benefit to allow it). I see the site as nothing but a message board community like mootropolis. The only difference being that at saloon the admins take part in the bashing.

Toollady "yes."

Auction Saloon does allow links to sellers' personal sites, their items on other auction sites, etc. No other auction site does that. They do because they care about the success of our sellers. If they list with AS, why can't they mention their merchandise elsewhere? Seems kinda selfish to me.
and ballzandstrikes.......
Other than that, I haven't a clue as to what you are rattling on about

Wow how do I start here. Ballsandstrikes is my friend and you know you are and I respect Kittie's opinions also. So here I go:

First, Allykat on Ebay is not Kittie. I know her personally and they are two different people. :>

Second, Auction Saloon: They have been wonderful to Giving@Home. Yes were are there and I say we because I am the President of G@H. He will probably kill me but the owner of AS, the one and only, donated so many toys for Christmas for kids who would have not had any. So thanks OAO you know I think you are grand! Adult auctions yes they are everywhere and my opinion is if people didn't buy it others couldn't sell it. As long as it does not involve children.

Third: Bidbay has alot of good people over there. While I do not like those in charge there are many members who were VERY good to G@H and we remember all of you with thanks. However, we have parted ways with Bidbay and that is all we need to say.

I don't believe in a site that compromises my integretity speaking as a personal seller on a personal level. On a business level I don't believe as long as fake money exists that site will ever prosper. Just my personal feeling.

Happy Holidays to all!
Barbara

Well I went ahead and listed ballz, got a Buy It Now right away. Only $3.00 but a pretty much effortless fast sale. SO! I am happy so far and we shall see how it goes.

I clicked on your banner while I was listing my auctions last night.lol No Maddux cards! For shame! I hate to share my user-name with you over there, you will laugh and so will HB. It's "sugarbritches". Ok Ok laugh! :P
I am tired of always being Kodiak and so I switched it to hubbys pet name for me.

Anyway! If you see a bid from that name sometime, it's me

P.S. How did this thread turn into an Auction Saloon thread?

I don't believe it turned into an Auction Saloon thread....as with any conversation, the subject shifts back and forth and rarely does it ever stay exactly on topic. This category is called "other online auctions" and you were wondering where else you could sell and I suggested Auction Saloon and ballz took it and ran with it. If you prefer to list and sell on bidbay, it's your decision, however, you will eventually see what we have tried to tell you. It looks as though you have been there before as you do have feedback from earlier this year.....
Rangerlover thank you for your kind and heartfelt words...

edited to say sugarbritches has a feedback of 22 over at bidbay, so why the question to begin with???
