(A bespectacled little man with a German WWII helmet on his head and a long cigarette attached to a holder in his hand peeks out from behind some bushes and says: "Veeeeeeeeery interesting. But stupid and irrelevant."

Do I hear some Naysayers? At least they are trying very hard to get some action.
I like that attitude and http://www.topnotchauctions.com also displays that desire to be apart from the pact and try new ideas.
I say nay to the naysayers. ( Sounds Shakespearean? )

Trying to "get" some action is the key word . I have been on Carnaby for 3 days and not a single looker. Compared to Ebay Carnaby isnt looking like a good possibility for conducting auctions. I gave up on auctionaddict, bidville, auction cow and soon Bay9. Doesn't leave many left.

I think it is a mistake for Carnaby. I have had items on Grab a Bargain since at least Nov or Dec 2001. I have had zero sales. According to other book dealers they have had the same experience. They need to make some major changes for that boat not to sink!

I can't help but wonder if this was part of the plan all along. Carnaby and Grab-a-bargain are owned by members of the same family--each owned one of the sites. Both sites are very nice and I've used both (bought on GAB and sold and bought on Carnaby). After spending the last over a year in the trenches, though, it's getting harder and harder for me to be optimistic about most of the new sites.

Thanks for that info WallyPog. That makes sense. GAB must have had something going to still have 3.1 million items listed. Of course, sites like this it's easy to list duplicate items and hope for the best with the low maintenance due to no relisting.
