Some of us sellers love epier, the only true challenger to ebay and amazon
and then we wake up and see this,....
You know sometimes you just get slapped in the face.
Today I went into the net before my cup of coffee.
being half awake I typed in epeir by mistake.
You can imagine my surprise when I was directed to one of these pussbag outfits that sucks up domain names.
Looking their site over I was very interested in their prominent ads for ebay............Does the queen hear the sound of the peasants footsteps ?
so I tried their prominent search engine
I searched for auctions,
now it would seem to me that if you going to slime off someone else's hard work you could at least give them a shot and they did
on page three of their listings right after 8 plugs for ebay.
NOw I'm no lawyer but it would seem to me that if bidbay is to close a name to ebay
than the guys making abuck off epier's hard work by using epeir might just be in violation of the same laws.
You all should have known that the big boys were not going to go down with out a fight.

Bids, you of all people should be able to read through a rant.
I think he's trying to say that someone is using epeir.com as a site that markets ebay, so that anyone meaning to go to 'epier' that misspells it will see ads galore for ebay.

and If anyone out there doubts that epier is the strongest number two challenger then ask them selves whoelse has ebay come after with a bogus tactic like this ?

I didn't see the misspelled word epeir in the first post so had no idea. Most people use bookmarks.
Seriously though we went through a long discussion on this same subject a few months ago, either here or on BV or Moo. Several auction sites have the user go to eBay.com if they misspell the word or forget something in the url. When some auction sites go belly-up their URL redirects to eBay. I always figured either eBay paid em something or bought the abandoned URL. It's kinda sneaky but gets the page hits for eBay.

Hmmm....
Just went over and took a look at Epier , seems like a nice pretty site ... but so does SYI ( sell your item .com ) , where we seem to be completely wasting our time .
HuH , I don't think I have another ( look and try , upload and wait , Will We Get Any BuYers Or Lookers ... ) In Me !
Epier , just like SYI has a great interface and listings are free , lots of grteat gadgetry , BUt , What I Want To Know First Is ...
Are The Sellers Making Any Money Over There ???
Are They Getting Sales ???

Having used both epier and SYI, I would have to toss my vote to epier. I have at least had some sales on epier. I never even had a page look at SYI. Not that I am saying I am going to get rich off of epier, sales are not the great there, but it is an easy place to load and keep auctions listed. As far as ease of listing auctions, epier is much easier than SYI. I gave up on SYI as it is just not worth the time to not even get a page look. And unlike SYI, at epier you can set up the auctions to auto-relist until the item sells. At SYI, you get a few chances then it cancels the auctions so you have to go and relist them far too frequently.

Your right epier does produce some sales. and on a regular basis SYI is a nice site and I do list there but they are not even remotely in the same class as epier. Epier is for me much more productive than yahoo
nearly as productive as amazon. They are the no 3 site for sales at this time. having passed BV a longtime ago.Only Gunbroker comes close.

I typed in www.epeir.com and came up with dotster domain search. As far as I can tell this site has nothing to do with Ebay. It has a link to Ebay but a lot of sites have links and banners for Ebay.

It helps to spell epier correctly .... always remember the ole school marm chant " i before e except after c ".
note:
The "I before E except after C" rule that is so often quoted doesn't work with words such as: vein, science, Einstein, sufficient, neither, weird, plus about two hundred or so more. So why bother with it? The answer is simply, don't bother with half a rule. If you learn the whole rule you will find out that it does work 99.9999% of the time!
This book presents the rule and then very slowly and methodically teaches the meaning of each part. What the author found out when he first taught this rule to junior high students at the Flint Alternative Junior High School is that they really didn't understand the meaning of the word except.
he not only had the students memorize the ENTIRE RULE, but he also developed exercises in which the students had to give the reason for their answers.

remember the words we said didn't follow the rule? They do follow the complete rule.Here they are: vein, science,Einstein, sufficient, neither, weird.
directly applying the rule means:
n is ei because it sounds as "A" science is ie because it is a cien word. (Note: We don't have any cein words)
Einstein has ei's because both sound as "I" sufficient is ie because it is a cien word.neither is ei because it is a common exception weird is ei because it is a common exception

That is a question that no one seller can answer for you. You might sell 20 items on SYI to 1 on ePier and vice-versa. It is going to depend completely on what you're listing, plain and simple.
No site at this time can come close to sales on eBay, but there are a few that make up a good portion of gravy for many sellers.
