Has anyone else tried to list/sell on this site? I've had nothing but technical problems and complete lack of support in the past few days. Listed 4 items ... one showed up. And I can't access it to see if there are bidders. Just wondering what's going on ...

Thanks for your information.

There are hundreds of products listed on BidBay.com...all satisfied without problems. free listings are offered...can't go wrong. This person needs to contact [email protected] for help on listing items. Many people are finding out, unlike other auction sites, that they receive an actual phone call for help.

My experience with BidBay has been terrible. I tried registering - made no errors at all but was unable to. Got some kind of technical error. NOWHERE on the site does it tell you how to contact anyone. There is no way to report this. The address you just listed was the first I've seen and I'll try it. But so far, I'm very very unimpressed.

Noreaster, whomever this person is, joined Auctionwatch Jan 20,2000 and since then listed 4 posts. BidBay.com has a help menu, and there are hundreds of praise letters and support for the site. Not to mention Free Listings, and ethical site. BidBay Ceo stated that eventhough the site doesn't generate money currently, they are launching a whopping $300000 ad campaign to help the sellers.

Rachel,
Obviously you work for bidbay, lol. Why you are trying to deny their problems is beyond me. So I just registered with Auctionwatch, so what?? You have to register in order to post, so I registered! Duh! Would you like to see the posts I've received from them in the last day trying - repeatedly and unsuccessfully, though politely - to solve my problem? (By the way, the name of the customer rep working with me is Eric Rosenberg, [email protected], if that helps you.) You know, the best tactic to take is to say something like, "Yes, they're having startup problems; they're working hard to fix them", rather than try to deny them. I'm a bidder by the way; never sold a thing in my life. I can't seem to give away my money.

BidBay seems like a wonderful auction house, but like the other poster, I have not been able to register. I feel so rejected! *grin* Honestly, though, I have tried on several different occasions (at least 4) to register, and I keep getting an error message. On those 4+ occasions, I tried several times, inputing the info over and over, closing and reopening my browser, etc. Nothing helped. It is very frustrating!! And quite honestly, it is disheartening! I am all for FREE! But how can I take advantage of it if I can't even register?? Rachel, since you seem to be an expert on BidBay (are you an employee?) can you help me? I would appreciate it! Thanks!

~Jennifer~

PS Rachel-I was just wondering...what did you mean by saying that noreaster had just registered with AW on 01-20-00 and had 4 posts? I don't understand what that has to do with anything? Call me clueless, but please explain! Thanks.

Hi All!-
I to have been having technical problems with bidbay. I was able to register without a problem yesterday, however, I have been completely unable to list anything. I've gotten error messages over and over again, to the point of frustration. I think That it is great that they are up and running as a new auction site. The fact that they are "Free" for now is certainly an enticement to anyone who has spent a great deal on listing fees on other sites. But, please, try to understand that it defeats the purpose of having Sellers/Bidders when there are these types of technical problems that are not being addressed. Also, if you go into the site, there is no where on the BidBay site that gives an e-mail address or any other type of address to be able to correspond with. I have literally checked everywhere on the site and no such info is given. There isn't even an indicator as to where this new website originates. My suspisions are not so much with the lack of Website or Company Info, but, with Customer Support Info. I do not believe that the previous posters are in the wrong for bringing their concerns to this board, whether they have posted once or never. I rarely post unless it is of importance or relevance to my situation. One should not be so defensive upon an individual stating their concerns(JMHO)!!

Greetings,

I see these message boards and it is upsetting. BidBay has been in operation for three weeks. So far there are thousands of users and growing hourly. BidBay.Com concept is not to charge commissions to sellers. As well as only charging a quarter for listing fees. The email that itsamoomoo speaks of does exist:How do I bid?
How do I sell?
Register here!

myBidBay
All are listed on the front page. Jenr812 above was emailed to personally contact me for help. But no reply. It is simple, if someone is experiencing difficulty just email [email protected]. We are currently giving free T-Shirts to anyone who registers. We are spending more than $300,000 next week to help sellers sell eventhough we are not charging any listing fees. Any one in need of help is simple. Sign up, Go to message center, and email me from the drop down menu, "Bidbayceo" my response or my staff is prompt. Good luck to everyone. Any suggestions, since we're new will be appreciated. Email me [email protected].

Sincerely,

Bidbayceo

Hello Again!-
I just came across BidBayceo's post and have e-mailed him directly. I am glad that my post has "Pricked Up The Ears" of the BidBay Heads to the point of commenting here on the board. However, my earlier post was not an "Attack" on them, but, merely in defense and support of previous posters who have encountered legitimate and factual technical problems that are of concern to all of us. BidBayCeo states in his posting that their is an e-mail address on the site. I beg to differ with this, since, I "Read" with a fine tooth comb the entire site before and after registering as a member. The e-mail of "[email protected]" is nowhere to be found as an additional place to go to for support. The links that he addressed as "How to Sell?" "How To Buy?" etc...are self explanatory, however no direct "e-mail address" is given. Now, I'm giving you my assessment as of Midnight last night when I first posted my message on this board. I have not been to their site as of today and do not know if they have implemented such info as of today! I did write to "[email protected]" per Rachel1's Post earlier on in this thread. I do not know if this individual is omniscient or works for bidbay that they would have such info, but it is not directly given on the auction site. I e-mailed bidbay under the "User" name I had registered on Friday, and have not heard from them as of yet. I had also posted a direct message marked urgent to "BidbayCeo" in their message center and still no response. I would like to be able to list my items, but, have not received any help as of yet. Again, as I previously stated I think that it is wonderful for people to have options in the trading community and I strongly believe that everyone would be an "asset" to any community that is starting out. However, it is important for concerns to be addressed and not attacked by other members because they have been successful in registering etc.... In all, the importance of working together and addressing issues brought about my earlier post. This was done with the sole purpose of addressing problems with the hope that they could be resolved for the entire community!!!

Hello Everyone!-

***This is an update on by previous post***

Upon e-mailing [email protected], I received a prompt response. George, was kind enough to include an 800 number where he could be reached and would try to help. I called him immediately, and must say that my experience was quite pleasant. "BidBayCeo" was genuinely concerned with my technical problems and provide me with "Hands On" help!!! He is working to resolve the prolems that have arised and wants to help anyone who contacts him directly!! He is proving to be a tremendous asset to BidBay as CEO & Community Rep. I listed a few items in bidbay today. Seems ok, few glitches but nothing that cannot be over come with persistance. It looks exactly like eBay & the other auction sites. I guess if the wheel isn't broken why fix it. A couple of new features that was nifty. Not as user friendly as Yahoo Auctions which is also FREE by the way. Why do I have to choose 2 seperate categories to list my item?. Add in a function where I can enter a category code, its easier than scrolling down all the time.

Hello All!-
This is another update!-
Wow!! What can I say at this time....But what TERRIFIC Support Staff BidBay Has!! They Have Proven To Be Extremely Helpful. They Will Call You and Speak To You For Whatever length of time it takes to resolve the problem or concern you may have.

***Also Of Worthy Note: That Even Though All Listings Are FREE, They Are Giving AWAY $10,000 In Cash In A Contest To Sellers That List The Most Items During A Specific time Period!!! This Is Certainly A DEAL. I Don't EVER Recall Any Other Site Doing This- Paying You To List Items****

.....So, Go Ahead Sellers, List Away, and I Can spend My money buying your items. Remember, Everyone has to start of somewhere in the beginning. But, what A GREAT Site To Be A Member Of!!! My Hats off To Them!! They Take Members Input Very Seriously & Are Constantly Making Improvements!!! Thanks.......And LIST,LIST, List Away!!!!! [ edited by itsamoomoo on Feb 16, 2000 05:19 PM ]

I will state BidBay has problems, but it just started, I excuse them completely. Free, free listings, free of commisions till June. Advertisements at superbowl, and seen one on race car already. I recieved my free t-shirt today, and a paper for free stock (5 shares). Another incentive for bidder's is that 3 bidder's a day are choosen to recieve 100.00 each, nice incentive to bid. As a new company there are going to be glitches, work with them, unlike other sites they seem to be willing to help and listen. [email protected], if you need more help, they have a toolfree number. Well enough cheerleading for our team, what do you expect from me, there 3-4 blocks from my home.

I looked at BidBay and didn't see anything special about it, nothing in the way of features that impressed me or stuck out in my mind. I regret visiting for one reason, I ended up getting a lot of email from them I could have done without.

One auction site that DOES have features that interests me is edeal.com I visited that after seeing the name somewhere and I was impressed. Look at it sometime, it's got a real nice interface, and a lot of features that made me slap my head and say "why didn't someone else do that."

BidBayCeo,

Are you the owner of BidBay.com?

If would be better if you design the site, instead of using the default template.

If you want, I can design you a site that looks similar to eBay.

If you are interested, let me know.

My sincere apologizes if I appeared to be spamming another site. As for trespassing, I thought this was a public forum.

I did get several emails from BidBay and as a result I requested my name be removed. If the email load was lighter I don't think I would have asked not to recieve updates.

UARU, you stated your opinion, fine. But do you really have the guts and respond to this with your username so I make sure I remove you. Obviously not. Statements you say might be funny to you while actually damaging to others especially when it is false. I'll stand in public and say who I am, will you. You can email me [email protected]. Will you list your email here to the public to see or are you afraid?? We'll see.

I have registered and look forward to listing! Seems all the advertising here and other places has paid off...the current listings are 7 TIMES what they were last time I looked!

HOWEVER...

I looked at the FEATURED ITEMS. It was very hard to weed through. There is a certain someone who has bidbay in their userid (not you, bidbayceo, but not sure if I can specifically say who here) who has FLOODED the listings. They have close to 2200 listings. I looked at about 12 pages of his mess, and found a few patterns. He lists EVERY item TEN times (at least) in the SAME category. Is this allowed???? His listings make up almost 10% of BidBay's total listings, and I am willing to bet he has less than 100 unique items (I am being generous here, since I also noticed that he lists the same items under SLIGHTLY different titles as well!) Also, it seems misleading, if he isn't affiliated with BidBay, to have BidBay in his USER ID. Unless he IS affiliated? Which would really irk me. I am just trying to figure this out, because it seems to me that EVERY one of his listings are featured and boldfaced, which is 10.45 EACH LISTING....mighty expensive for that many listings.

Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated. THANKS

~Jen~

??? I'm at a loss as to how to respond, the apology was sincere. If you detected sarcasim I'll apologize for that to, it wasn't there.

I choose not to give my email address for my reasons, if you feel it cowardice, fine, my ego isn't very fragile.

I'll accept the blame for mentioning 'Brand X' if you'll accept the blame for a lack of diplomacy. I'm all in favor of more online auction sites, I've got a membership on BidBay. If you are indeed the CEO I wish you good luck, I'd like to see a online auction service allow more competition to the marketplace.

On 2/15 I got 3 emails from BidPay 2 from [email protected] and one from [email protected] and all of them were the same message, concerning the BidBay trivia contest. I'm sure there had to be some confusion to send the email 3 times in one day. If I'm wrong to point this out, again I'll apologize, I'm not in the habit of stepping toes, and would like this dialog to become more civil.

Hi Jenr812. I know exactly who you're talking about. The person is not affiliated with us and has been contacted by us to refrain this activity. I hope you enjoy BidBay now. The reason for all of the multiple listings is because it's free untill June. I'm pretty sure after that people will be more cautious. Also, did you receive your free t-shirt, if not please let me know. We have shipped out 8000 and still have 43000 more to go. If you have any advise as in making the site more user friendly, please email me. Thanks for your comments.

Greetings UARU, thanks for your reply. I for one want to be civil. The emails we sent out were the first since inception. We had to extract all the data base into a mail server. Our tech, obviously wasn't certain at the beginning, but at least we were able to inform everyone of the $10,000 giveaway. We're conducting the same contest again now. Sincerely, if you have any advise in making this site better than anyone, please email me. We take all seriously. After all, how can we become number one if we don't listen to our community. I know and understand that in life we can't please everyone, but we can sure try. Thanks again for your reply.

Thanks for the T Shirt, nice touch that I really didn’t expect.

Okay, here’s some recommendations from me.

1. a BidBay newsgroup on the usenet, not to list auctions but for dialog on problems
improvement, tip, and questions on buying and selling(web based dialogs are difficult to
use)

2. an option to check if the buyer accepts email payments (you’d do well to get PayPal in
your corner)

3. on site image hosting (you could do it for free, or charge a nominal amount, many
would enjoy the advantage knowing that if the site is running their images are available)

4. Hit counters build into the auction listing (this would be a choice of the seller whether
or not he wants to have the number of hits displayed)

5. Searches allowed and encouraged from the auction search services (as more online
auctions come online the auction search services will be a key element)

6. Icons next to the listings to save the buyer time and allow him to look at more items.

a*** Open Auction (straight forward message that the minimum bid wins)

b*** Reserved Auction (many buyers don’t like them, and some sellers have to waste
extra space in there title specifying there isn’t a reserve price.

c*** Dutch Auctions

d*** Images

e*** ???? (I’m sure there are some others that could be considered but I don’t have them
off the top of my head, since sounds is an option maybe you should have a icon for that)

7. Address verification ( Let the people know that the member’s address has been
verified, after signing up the member is sent a postcard with a code which he enters to
give him little icon next to his name. This would prevent the casual prankster.)

8. The ability for buyers and sellers to import there feedback from other services. (if a
person is able to sign on and get the rewards they earned from other online auctions it
would be more inviting)

These are a few items off the top of my head, some probably have drawback, but then
some have merit too.

I'm gonna bump this so you guys can see CEO's "business like" manner.

One person complains and CEO jumps all over him...seems this is a pattern that started in the beginning and continues to now.

my 2¢ re Bidbay ~ first, I read so much trashing of bidbay on these boards that I figured something good had to be going on over there (guess I think a bit different than most).
So following my instincts, I contacted them and got nothing but extremely courteous, caring replies. Then, today, I finally got around to posting 3 auctions there. I had absolutely NO problems registering or launching auctions and I am WebTv!! Further, I already have bids on two of the three items I posted. Altho I had absolutely no problems, I did have several questions. And then I found that there are great people over there, very caring and very helpful, both sellers and employees. I cannot help wondering now what is the agenda of some that are posting such awful stuff here about Bidbay. Being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, my instincts are honed to perfection when someone is "up to no good" and has some kind of personal agenda and vendetta as I have seen here with several posters.
Bottom line...I had absolutely no problems whatsoever and I think they are terrific! I would like to help those of you who sincerely are encountering problems but, since I had none, I cannot have answers to problems I did not encounter. If everything worked fine for me and I am WebTv, I would urge you not to give up...to get answers to your problems because Bidbay is a great site. But be warned those of you who are so deadly serious...it's also a lot of fun there, too

awww, see what I mean? Gheesh, give it a rest, why doncha? You're messing up AW's nice boards something terrible and making a lot of unnecessary work for the moderators. Why should bidbayceo answer to you? Why be so nasty to nice, helpful people? Some of you seem to have nothing to do but go around to the boards, bad mouthing at the other boards....yes, you do it to AW,too. Some just use different nics.
Go do something nice for somebody. You'll feel better.
