I have been unable to access the Bidville site for a couple of days, is anyone else having a problem?

This is considered a problem?

WHY?

Well tomwiii because I have about 150 auctions on there, and I would like to see if I have any bids. Sold 16 last week.

16 x 5 cents = 80 cents. Eureaka!

24 hours of being down before it was Lazarus'ed back to life must have frightened a few of the big public auction storage dealers there. ( I carefully avoided the word 'seller' )

When BV was new the founder said the cost was minimal to setup and run the site because hardware from unsuccessful web ventures by the founder was being used to run BV. That was in December of 2000 ( 12/06/00 was BV's birthday ). It is coming up on three years now since the birth of BV and it's secondhand hardware. The state of the art in hardware has moved rapidly in the last three years so maybe there will be more and more of these "technical difficulties" plaguing BV in the future.

AA, it has been reported on several chat boards that bidville has been having problems lately. I think the problem was minor, but they were away from the site. Many sellers are reporting no response to their emails from the management which isnt good.

I just can not ever forget the chickencrap way that Carnaby stopped operations. No warning, no response to emails, no thanks for helping us, nothing. They somehow rationalized away any kind of reason for warning the sellers that they were pulling the pull.

I can definitely see a possible repeat of that at BV. ( and a few other sites ) At some point they may decide that the financial gain is too small and the future is too bleak and why not just pull the friggin' plug.

Haha that is very true!

AA, I think you are right. None of these 3rd tier sites will give their members a 2 week notice. One day they will be gone.

A 24 hour notice would have worked. Carnaby gave every third tier site a very bad black eye when the pulled the plug and walked away without a word of warning.

Not only did Carnabutt sneak out on ya in the middle of the night like a bunch of gangstas, they left MAX on our PCs without any way to uninstall him!

The guy I really feel for is: RobsBooks! I think that was his name? He really invested an immense amount of time & WORK into his Carnabutt auctions & stores -- I hope they at least warned HIM??

These fools have left a really bitter taste in my os, to the point that, other than the WUNDERFULLL Gegy.com, I will no longer play with any pixie-dusted 6th tier auction sites anymore ever again forever&ever...

The contests winners were stiffed alright. They gave away a bunch of mousepads and not the good prizes. The day they were suppose to start charging a FVF was the day they went down for 24 hours then they were up for a day and then they were gone for good.

Who knows what kind of a soap opera is going on at these small sites? They can't have more than a few employees and that leaves them vulnerable to closing at any time.
