Yahoo! I just noticed that Amazon is going to fill the void left by Half.com. Have you visited Amazon Marketplace recently? Most of my sales this year (about 70%) have come from Marketplace.
And now they're expanding to include electronics, camera, garden/home/hardware, etc.
Do you think this decision was made bec of Ebay moving Half.com? I hope so.
Amazon is teaming up with large corporations for those categories you mentioned.
I received a catalog the other day from an industrial supply house we used to do business with, and on the catalog, just under the company name, it said "An Amazon.com company"
Amazon is either buying companies or partnering with them to bring a bigger selection of items to the table.
They take care of order processing for Toys R Us and a slew of other companies they are bringing into the fold.
You're deluding yourself if you think Amazon is going to fill the supposed void of Half merging into Ebay.

I wouldn't bet on that. Amazon has been around for a while, and they're not exactly unknown. Ebay book Sellers will be buried under Half.com listings, and they may just check out Amazon
