Well guys, it's goodbye Ebay. I'm getting bids like crazy at overstock, and the funny thing is, the items being bid have a Make it mine (BIN) tag, but because of OVS "glitch" didn't show up in the auction site. So, guess what, the items are being bid on above what the MIN was. Next time, I won't put a BIN on, I will leave it as is.

Now, I just hope these are not NPB. (smile)

How to get buyers to pay? That's the big question over at Overstock because they don't have a Paypal connection, and it's difficult to put the Paypal logo on your site.

anybody have suggestions how to get the buyer to pay you?

SalGal - just send them a manual invoice from PayPal ... when they get back up and running. They are down this morning, you get a message in English, German and French stating they are having "temporary difficulties." I have a few auctions on Overstock, one with a bid. I sell antique and vintage jewelry - on eBay there are tens of thousands of vintage jewelry auctions. Currently, on Overstock there's only around 50. So, if they flourish that will change. I plan to enjoy it while I can. Life's like that, nothing ever stays the same.

One of the reasons why we're getting bid is because it's new and there are not a lot of sellers -- yet, but boy oh boy when all the sellers come through it's going to be the same as Ebay.

My FIRST SALE! Wowee! Bummer -- Paypal is down!
I had put the item on Bidville and it sat for months. 10 days on OVS and it's sold!

I have a question. Why are all these people wanting me to be their "friend"? What's the friend thing all about. So far, I click to decline the invitation, but it takes me to a page that wants me to sign in etc.

Roadsmith: The "friend" thingy is a contest to see who can accumulate the biggest network of "friends." I have accepted about 60 "friends" and don't have anywhere near enough to win the $50,000 prize, I'm not competing, but the "friends" can rate you with stars. Kind of like feedback. I have several that rated me (some fellow eBayers), so potential bidders will have confidence to bid. If you are planning to do some auctions, it's a good idea. If you do, send me an invitation and I'll give you a glowing five star feedback!

Regardless of whether the counter is checked or unchecked, it's not working.
Under OVS's instructions you should "uncheck" the counter if you want it to count. Well, it don't work that way, you have to check the counter to make it work. So I check the counter every day this week and the count appears -- for one freaking day, and then the counter disappears from the auction site.
Lots of bugs & glitches, I think I'll sit by the sidelines until they get this sh***** straight.

Hmmm, wrote too fast. OVS is still very buggy & glitchy. See the 'technical suggestions' thread.
I'm stepping aside pulling my items until they get it together.

They are doing a good deal of nice TV ads, but the site is too flaky at the present, with major html problems.

I posted once, but will wait till the site is more stable to test it any more.

The site is professionally done – but the posting area is from the stone age!

I only post Fixed Price Auctions, so I wouldn't know about the rate of bidding.

Not true. Leaving feedback is actually easier than on ebay. Just follow the link that says feedback.

Well Stone:
Never did find anything that said feedback.
But after going through about 6 pagers I did find out how to do it.

If nothing else you made me look harder.

I agree on a couple of points, but not fully. You can get your fees back. You have to send them an email with auction numbers and such. It's a pain, but they do refund. I have had 3 NPBs so far - worse stats than eBay. I don't find leaving feedback as easy as eBay at all. In fact, none of my buyers have left any. I see no way for OS to punish those that bid and run either.

I sold ten items on OS and have decided to give it a rest until all the bugs are ironed out. I find invoicing them to be a pain and OS's invoicing system is not good at all.

Update: My one auction is paying me by check. She's afraid of paypal, it's OK with me. She's anxious to get the buckle.
I'll give OVS another look later, as you, when they get the glitches out and figure out how to do an auction site.

Got an invoice for fees before either of my test auctions got a bid! Pffffft! Canceled my 9 day old auctions. Obviously, $9.95 for a $50.00 piece wasn't a good enough deal.

Not impressed.

This sounds a lot like ioffer to me. If you look at your "friends" you will find that most of them have the same idea about waiting until the bugs are ironed out.

It's a (catch 22 situation)
If we drop them till they iron out their bugs.
They may give up and never fix them!

What are you doing listing a $50.00 item for only $9.95? Although this is a Overstock thread, the new ebay policy applies here. That is the reason ebay is implementing the "cannot cancel the auction in the last 12 hours" policy. Because too many sellers were listing items way under their true value and then cancelling them in the last minutes if bidding did not get to where it should have been. IMHO, all auction sites should have this so the seller must list the item at its worth and the buyer doesn't get the shaft in the end.

At least Overstock extends auctions 10 minutes if a bid is placed in the last minutes. Gives it a chance for the $9.95 item ($50 value) to get more bids, and avoid the bottom feeding snipers.
