Just received an e-mail from No Bidding that they will merge with Bidville. I have auctions on both sites at the moment. All the auctions on No Bidding will be transferred by Bidville onto the new site. No work for me! Maybe this will increase the traffic to Bidville. Let's hope so!

Hey, I just read a posting on the home page of NOBIDDING.com that announces a combining of the two sites. I have emailed Bidville CS to find out if this means that there will be premium sellers accounts there too. Interesting...!

jim, According to the email I received from No Bidding, if you were a premium seller, you could either do one of the following:
1) have a $100.00 credit for bold, banner, featured, etc.
2) be reimbursed for the time remaining on your premium account - prorated, of course.
And I'm not a cheerleader for Bidville. Just putting up some information that I thought some people would appreciate.

And thanks for posting the info. It makes sense to merge the nobidding.com "auctions" into the the rapidly growing bidville.com site, especially since they were run by the same company.

Yuk? Within the next few days the uptrend line of Bidville listings will cross the downtrend line of Yahoo!Auctions. Perhaps you can help us come up with a few reasons why sellers should pay to list their items at Yahoo!Auctions and ignore Bidville.
And while we're at it, was Yahoo!Auctions a "yuk" auction site when they offered free listings?

I could not agree more with Dimview! I do not think we should ignore Bidville and pay on those "pay sites"! Dim, it is fun reading past posts and then bringing them to the top for no particular reason! Toil and Trouble!

deichen,
Thanks for updating this thread.
Let's take a closer look.
dimview then:

dimview now:
Yup, still think it made sense to merge the two auctionsites. Now at more than one million listings, it certainly has grown by that measure, and a new auctionsite it was too early to begin looking at a sell-through rate. Much like Carnaby now.
dimview then:

dimview now:
Yup, the Bidville listing uptrend line did cross the Yahoo!Auctions downtrend line. I couldn't think of any reasons for users to list on Yahoo!Auctions during the debacle and thought giving Bidville the opportunity to put a viable auctionsite together logical.
Of course, a half a year later, it looks to me like Bidville has squandered that opportunity with 30-day listings and a 99 relisting option, transforming itself in the Internet's Largest Inventory Warehouse.
So with zero growth in terms of sell-through rate and little prospect for improvement, perhaps you can help us come up with a few reasons why sellers should list their items at Bidville.

Back in January and February most sellers were very naive and believed that a free auction site like Bidville would naturally assume the traffic and robust selling that was at Yahoo before it 'threw it all away'. Back then Bidville was fighting for the top free auction spot with the likes of ePier, Lycos and a few other contenders. Most sellers gave Bidville a six month window to achieve some measure of success. That window has come and gone and the free auction sites, even ones with one million listings, have woefully failed to attract either any significant traffic or bidders for the average seller.
