Overstock.com Auctions sent me this e-mail this morning.
Greetings,
With increasing traffic and the holiday season fast approaching, Overstock.com Auctions would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patronage and make you aware of an important policy change to our User Agreement.
In an effort to help potential bidders more easily browse item search results, we have implemented a Duplicate Items Policy. Effective immediately, Overstock.com Auctions is restricting sellers from listing more than five active identical auctions. Items are considered identical if they have all of the same attributes (color, size, model number, material, etc). This policy does not apply to items that are similar but not identical. Auctions which exceed this limit are subject to removal, and are not eligible for listing credits.
Furthermore, all attributes must be specified in auctions. Sellers cannot indicate that buyers can choose these attributes at the close of an auction.
There will be a grace period in effect until November 1, 2006 for sellers to review their listings and make the appropriate scheduling changes to their Overstock.com Auctions account and their third party Auction Management Provider (if applicable).
We would also like to remind sellers to read through and understand the O-Subscriptions User Agreement. As we have mentioned before, Overstock.com Auctions will no longer be able to issue credits for charges resulting from items listed beyond a seller's subscription plan listing limit.
Below are some helpful links that will provide further information on the new Duplicate Items Policy and the O-Subscriptions Policy.

I personally think that this policy if a fantastic idea. It will cut down on having to look at 30 - 40 of the same darn thing. As far as being notified of the change. I received that very same email a month ago. Anyone who already has WAY TO MANY items listed, wont be effected. They will run until they end, or are sold. It's only AFTER Nov 1st, that people will be limited on how many of the same things they can list.
I personally wish that more auction sites would do the same thing.
I sell on Overstock and I love it. It's the best auction site I have ever found. The people are friendly and you can't beat their Customer Service. The only thing we need over there is for Vendio and Overstock to get together, so that we can use the Vendio Gallery on our Overstock auctions.
