This is my feed status:

Wed Dec 31 16:00:00 PST 1969

It is showing only 17 items active when I have over 500 with green checks? Any ideas?

Hello,

I checked the current status of your Google feed, and most of your items are currently failing with the Google error:

Item Too Big

This means that there is too much information in your item descriptions. Often there is extra/unnecessary HTML code that will cause this problem. Please edit your item descriptions to decrease their size, and then allow 24 - 48 hours for the changes to go through to Google.

Regards,
Nathan

Ok, I went and changed all 500 listings to 70 or under characters. Each day the items distributed varies widely from 380 to 38. Does this mean that only 38 items went to Google and not the 500??? It states only 1 critical error. I'm confused - all information would help. Thanks.

Hello,

I checked the current status of your Google feed, and unfortunately most of your items are still failing with the message "Item Too Big". Currently 437 of your items are failing with this error. If you just made the change to your items today, please allow another day for the changes to go through to Google.

Regards,
Nathan

The changes were made several days ago. It doesn't make sense. The number distributed changes drastically every day and it shouldn't since I'm not changing them. Is there any way that I can view the items that it is saying has the errors. When I click on the feed status, it only says (1 Items) - Missing Unique Product Identifiers and (2 items) - Long titles

Hello,

Google has provided 5 of the 437 items that are failing with this error as examples. Those items are:

Gap Gray Trouser Stretch Pants 6 R Wool 31x31 Chinos Dress Womens Grey

EDDIE BAUER Stretch Jeans Size 6 Straight Leg 28 x 31 Denim Womens

Mens TOWNCRAFT Suit 42R Blazer 35 x 29 1/2 Pants Two Button Black

AEROPOSTALE Mens Essex Straight Leg Jeans 28x30 Aero Denim Distressed

TALBOTS Petites Black Plaid PM Wool Blend Coat Button Up Medium Womens

Please note that you may view the HTML code that is being used for these items by going to "Items" --> "My Items" --> then click on the title of the item to edit it. Then go to the "Item Info" tab and click the "Source Edit" button near the top of the description section. This will show you all of the HTML code that is currently being used for the item. Please note that the easiest way to correct the problem would be to remove all information except for the actual text of the item description.

Regards,
Nathan

I guess I am confused. When I go into the source edit, that is in the item description field. I thought the reason for the failing items was the item title had to be 70 characters or less. Why would a listing fail because of my item description?

Can you please explain what the items distributed mean? I thought that meant the number of items that correctly passed through to Google in the feed. This morning it was 0. After I go into my items and look (but not change anything) if I save the item, it increases my items distributed.

Thanks

Hello,

I apologize for the confusion. Unfortunately, the reason that Google is giving the error message "Item Too Big" is because you have too much information in your item descriptions (rather than your item titles).

The items distributed number is not always accurate, unfortunately. However, I can see the current status of your feed, and 61 of your items have been accepted by Google. The rest of the items have the "Item Too Big" error that we have been discussing, which means that there is too much data in your item descriptions.

Nathan

Hi,

Ok, I understand that now. My question is how do I know if an item is rejected since I cannot see it. The error on the feed status was only showing 1 error, which it does not even tell me which item.

When I change the descriptions, how do I know if I have made it small enough?

Hello,

Unfortunately, Google only provides 5 example items for any error message that they return. The 5 example items that Google provided for the "Item Too Big" error in your account are:

Gap Gray Trouser Stretch Pants 6 R Wool 31x31 Chinos Dress Womens Grey

EDDIE BAUER Stretch Jeans Size 6 Straight Leg 28 x 31 Denim Womens

Mens TOWNCRAFT Suit 42R Blazer 35 x 29 1/2 Pants Two Button Black

AEROPOSTALE Mens Essex Straight Leg Jeans 28x30 Aero Denim Distressed

TALBOTS Petites Black Plaid PM Wool Blend Coat Button Up Medium Womens

In order to be sure that you have decreased the description size enough, please go to "Items" --> "My Items" --> then click on the title of the item to edit it. Then go to the "Item Info" tab and click the "Source Edit" button near the top of the description section. This will show you all of the HTML code that is currently being used for the item. The best way to correct the problem would be to remove all information except for the actual text of the item description.

Regards,
Nathan
