Wow that is wonderful. I wonder how long it will take for them to hit 1,000,000? The holiday season this year might make bidville even more interesting.

Bidbille is a great site. I ahve told all my past customers about it and just about all have checked it out. Some have even placed bids. Go BidVille

I plan on listing 250,000 "genuine US pennies", only $1 each plus $3 S&H on Bidville. Then they will have DOUBLED their listings instantly.
My TOS are CLEARLY STATED. You pushy buyers really tick me off.
well, after reconsideration, I will send you free my "super dooper snooping cdrom" that normally sells for $9.95, plus my "how to get absolutely free software" can't-miss method at no extra charge if you do buy 1000 of my Genuine US Pennies.
(Have you seen the TV add for a $5 coin, guaranteed "legal tender", for only $5 and FREE S&H? Of course, it turns out to be LIBERIAN dollars, probably worth pennies on the dollar...hmmm...maybe I should sell them on bidville also).

Well, 250,000 is fine, now where are the buyers? I have had no success at BidVille, and have posted in a wide variety of areas. I am having success with the same items on Ebay, AuctionAddict and BidBay.
I'd like to see just one of these (excluding eBay) make it, but if BidVille does, it will have to show me a lot more than it has since I started posting there.
Nice to list on, friendly customer service, all fine and good, but I am only interested in buyers - and I don't see those.
I don't want to move my full complement of auction anywhere till I get a better feel for which site is going to produce - I am testing 5 sites with about 20 -30 auctions each.

I've noticed a big pickup in my sales at Bidville in the past week. I've actually been selling something pretty much everyday. Still pretty slow, but it is getting better. One of my current auctions on Bidville has over 10 bids.
The same items have pretty much sat at BidBay without a single sale. Last week I listed some stuff on eBay. Sold a decent amount, but pretty much at it's first bid price. I just sold some of the same stuff on Bidville for it's "Take It" price which is 3x higher than the start price.

Well, sellers are also buyers and the bidding end will pick up. This site is only 2 months old and has had NO advertising. I do not think it is fair to say that someone has tried it and already condemned it. I have tried Lycos, BidBay (HA) and BidVille, I have had the most on BidVille, but it hasn't been quite the amount of bids I was getting on Yahoo, but in time that too, will change.

Looked at all the sites, and listed on a few, and find bidville does have the ease of listing and has a good feel to it.
Now to get the buyers in to even look.
It does remind me of Yahoo in the begining, ease of listing but no buyers. Takes time I guess.
Would like to see it take off, and add the info to it on my website and keep trying to get the word out here and there to see what will happen.
May e mail my repeat customers to take a look after I see how it goes.

I agree, lots of items up for auction, but no traffic. My first week was fine, but now, nothing. Great for me as a buyer. I went after some stamp sheets on ebay, and kept getting sniped. found 'em on Bidville and used the 'take it' option. Payed less than I would of on ebay. So I'm torn, when all the bidders come it will be great to sell, however my getting good deals as a buyer will be over.

I just went over to BidVille to check out canvid's stuff and I was greeted with a screen full of computer symbols, a picture of a vase, and the words "Pennsylvania Resident Must Pay 6% Sales Tax"

Finally got through!
Thought I would also have a look at some of the other listings to see how the prices compared to the "retail+" DVD prices on BidVille.
I checked under electronics and found a VCR for $89.95. Listing indicates a retail price of $159.95. I did a search and found at least 4 stores that sell the identical VCR for $89.95, brand new! I can buy it in Canada for $119.95 Canadian!
Where's the so-called deal here?
Perusing some of the other categories, I find the same thing - street prices on most items. By the time I factor in the shipping (and hope that these sellers are reputable!), there is no incentive for me to place a bid. It looks to me like the B&M stores are trying to move product through BidVille without offering any deals that cannot be had at their store. This is probably one of the negative aspects of a zero fee listing policy. If nothing else, it is getting the B&M guys a little bit of free advertising!
Can someone point me to some categories where some really good deals can be had (other than sports cards!) just to prove the so-called buyer's market that currently exists on BidVille?
If the sellers were willing to drop their prices to help get this site going (i.e. bring in the bidders), it may have a better chance of surviving.
Jamie ... I'll be talking with you!
OOPS - sorry Jamie ... I can only pay with cash, cheque or money order

RB,
try these. not trying to advertise my auctions here, but just so you can see some other activity. I think it is coming along well.
I am selling fairly low priced collectables in glass and pottery.

Most sellers used YaWho to park items that didn't sell on eBay. And those items sat and sat and sat and finally someone came along and bought the item. Why should BidVille have to perform more than that? We were looking for a replacement for YaWho. I think it works wonderfully for that reason.
However, in the past week I have received 3 emails from past customers on YaWho asking me to join them at BidVille. Although I am already there I find it interesting that others are requesting I check the site out.
Another item that might be of interest. I have a friend (tried & true eBayer) who bought a few items from me when I was selling at YaWho. She never would buy from anyone else there or on any other little site. Tells me yesturday she has bids on several items at BidVille AND THEY AREN'T MY ITEMS!!!!!
Word of mouth (emails) may be the slow means of getting the business but it can't be any worse than waiting for the sales on YaWho.
