One site that keeps coming up in the Universal Search is Ruby Lane. I've actually purchased one item through them and had no problems. Has anyone tried selling items through Ruby Lane? I'd be interested in hearing your feedback.

After the rather shameful display the rubylane management posted on these boards last month, I wouldn't go near that site with a 50-foot pole.
Going into the matter would get this thread WOMD'ed, but suffice to say rubylane has not a clue as to the words "client/customer confidentiality" and their meaning and application.

Well, to analogize it...say you took an ad out in the local newspaper. Then let's say you forgot or just didn't pay for the advertising in the paper. Then let's say the newspaper takes out an ad and calls the radio and TV stations to let everyone know that you didn't pay for your ad.
That's basically what rubylane did here to one of it's advertisers (a competitor, actually). It wasn't an regular user, but if client confidentiality can break down that far already, it doesn't take a big quake to rattle it the rest of the way down to their customers.
As I iterated earlier, I would not go near rubylane.com...I even have all my browsers set to reject their cookies.

I have a shop at Ruby Lane and have sold a few items there. Granted, my inventory isn't flying off the "shelves" but I have had sales. In my opinion, you have nothing to lose by offering your items there, if you don't sell....you don't pay. I have found the owners to be very responsive and on a mission to constantly improve their site. I sent an e-mail to them just yesterday about opening a second shop & heard back from them within hours! I was surprised as this is not the kind of customer service I am used to on other sites. I generally have to send second & third request messages. One feature they have that I found useful is that you can "send" your items from Ruby Lane to an auction, saving you typing time. I also appreciate my items being included in Universal Searches. I wish I had more business on Ruby Lane but admit I don't have all that many items listed. If you are considering starting a shop on Ruby Lane, my advice would be to GO FOR IT!!
