Why does every new auction site these days feel the need to be exactly like ebay?? Bidbay and onlineauctions.com this means you. Someone please explain this to me.

It seems like the people who are using the smaller auction sites are looking for something different, not the same. This is why 321gone.com and buyitsellit.com are going to make a killing in the new wave of auction sites. But who am I to talk....

From the founders at 321Gone: Thanks for the support. It is greatly appreciated. While going through our first round of funding, we are also in the process of creating an entirely new 321Gone website. The new site will be functional and easy to use while at the same time providing our members beneficial features above and beyond any other online auction site. Along with the launch of the new site will come a large affiliate program and marketing campaign to bring in the traffic. We also plan on providing special rewards for our initial members. Hold on tight, 321Gone will be taking the auction world by storm!

As the owner of a small specialist auction site, collectorscarauction.com, I have a view on this..........it is all about familiarity. We wanted to make the site as easy to use as possible. There are no fancy graphics, no clever features and no playing around with the style. The reason is, that if we have just .05% of ebay business then we will be doing OK and the way to get that is to make the site as easy to use for others as possible. It is a lot easier dealing with something with which you are familiar than not. If you had to learn a different way of doing things for every auction site you would never get your items listed!! Our feeling is if it ain't broke don't fix it! Epays Auto section has been re-designed and I really dislike the look it has, but of course that is my personal opinion, others may love it and find it easier. The other reason lots of sites look the same is that it is like an auction house in the real world, theres an auctioneer, a podium, bidding paddles, porters etc. etc. they all look much the same!!
Good luck to all buyers and sellers.
