Does Xbid have a chance to grab a piece of the e-pie? Will people use this site?

xbidpres~~

With the fees the way they are, probably won't get much listings posted there.

If the selling price of an item is let's say 10.00 and the item isn't featured, the cost once the item has sold is 10%.

Too expensive when I can list the item elsewhere and only pay about a total of 1%

Your fee schedule definitely needs re-structuring for anyone to even take a look.

ToolLady ~~ I would tend to agree, If I have a low priced item, say $4.00, I'm not willing to give up 25% in fees to sell when I can gleen a higher profit else where.

I appreciate your feedback on the fee schedule and have changed it to be five percent or one dollar which ever is less for regular listings, five percent or five dollars which ever is less for Featured listings, and five percent or three dollars which ever is less for Featured in category. Please tell me what you think.

Still too much......

Check out other auction sites and see what they are charging.

If I list an item and it sells at 9.99 on ebaY, I pay 25 cents for the listing and then 1.25% for a total of 37 cents.

If I list the same item with you and pay 5%, it costs me 50 cents.

13 cents is 13 cents.

Last post of my "free" consultation!

Any more, and it's gonna cost ya! LOL

xbidpres ~~ You have an interesting concept for charging, however your still too high, I am in total agreement with ToolLady. Your going to have to come up with a way to entice folks with your fees. this will be last free word on the subject as well.

Best of luck

Congratulations on a nice looking site with great possibilities. You asked for opinions so here goes.

A new website needs to partner with some sellers who could get the ball rolling. You would have to give away free space for a while to get them to spend time uploading their items, but it is essential to make your launch more credible.

A handful of items is not going to attract or keep buyers OR sellers.

Frankly, when I first saw what a great name you had, my heart jumped with anticipation. You see with a name like Xbid you should be doing adult items, a market ripe and ready for the picking, instead of bikes and cars, a ho-hum copycat sort of site. The adult sellers (myself included - about half my items) ) on eBay are desperate for a good alternative, but nothing seems to have surfaced yet. Certainly nothing with a greatname like yours.

What sellers like me want toknow most of all is how you plan to promote the site, to drive traffic to it, so that our auctions will be seen. And during the initial startup phase, it really helps if there is an easy way to keep the same auctions running as traffic builds. It is a lot of work to write, edit, code and list an item and I for one hate to have to repeat the work a few weeks later.

I wish you the best of luck and will keep an eye on how things develop.

Larry

I think you are right about the "X" in xbid. I think some people may assume it is an adult auction, also I am sure it will be picked up by search engines when users enter searches like "x-rated" picutres. Make sure you're meta tags on the home page have enought key words and a clear description to make sure the search engines get it right.

Also, I'd look to sign up with an affiliate network to start driving traffic. It is a cheap and affortable way to get going. For a small site Commission Junction at www.cj.com is the way to go. They are already working with Half.com.
