I have been using several Online Auctions over the last several years ...
But the new Shipping and "Handling" charges I have seen on UBid.Com is really something (for electronics). A VCR I purchased from UBid.Com 4 weeks ago cost me $15.87, now the same VCR will cost me $23.34 ($9.99+.89/pound).
From the information I received, this is to allow lower costs by:
o Standardized way of calculating S&H, thus releaving updating multiple tables with rates per geographic area.
o Reduce overhead cost with easier formula to calculate S&H.
o Shipping cost will be higher to some and lower to others, resulting in an average for everyone.
To top this off, the VCR I recently received was missing the remote and manual !!!! I have to contact the MANUFACTURE FOR REPLACEMENTS ! ! ! ! !

I have already started using other Online Auctions. I now only put extremely low bids in on UBid.Com - to cover the inflated S&H costs.
