How long before Yahoo calls themselves Boohoo because everyone left.
How long before eBay calls themselves echain when the Fairmarket chainstores takeover.
How long before you quit following dimview around because no one else will pay attention to you.

My comments:
Animaniac, you and anyone else who wants to can call it whatever you like.
I curently have 107 auctions runing, 56 with bids. I also have 18 auctions closed successful. So far, I have run into 1 npd, well it may be two, we will have to see. but I never had stuff sell like this on Yapoo.
I keep seeing postings saying "where are the bidders", "there does not seem to be any bidders"
Well, I've found a way to get some bidders, I don't care if you call the site the seven burning caves of hades. The water's fine to me. Must be to a lot of others also, why else would their auction listings, (not items) continue a steady growth. And it has been steady and consistant, regardless of what you have tried to do with figures on other threads.
If you have a site that you feel you are doing better at, I wish you well. Why don't you share it with us, maybe we would like to take a look. Just, please don't say Yagoo or ebay as this is the basement, and they have their place at the front door. (hmmm, ...that's an interesting thought)
forgot an 'e'

I agree with jimhhow you gotta advertise your customer base. I sell the same items so my listing price on bidville is 10% or more less than whats on eBay because I dont have to pay fees. SO will my repeat customer pay $9.95 on eBay, or $8.95 on bidville?? 400,000 listings is nothing compared to what it will be by fall for the holiday season. I say by the end of the year they are at 2,000,000 listings.

Well, chum, we'll see. Right now I have 98 listings with no bids and only 20 lookers. I have sold 4 items in as many weeks and 1 looks like he is going to reneg. If things don't pick-up soon I will be an ex-auctioneer.

Bidville will just keep going up 400,000 is just the start. If you dont like Bidville sorry (Why not try to help bring in bidders.) If we want Bidville to have bidders we need to help not just list and sat back and hope. Bidville is always improving if we get the bidders to take a look they will stay. Go Bidville.

telwel, Well said. Bidville sellers need to keep advertising to keep the buyers comming. Take a clue from Jim. He has his own Bidville club.

Yippeeee! (As I don't Yahooooo any more) I saw it was getting close yesturday and listed another 50 or so auctions. BidVille might be slow but it is growing at a steady pace and that is what counts. I am advertising on both my web pages and have banners on family pages, etc.

You can add me to the list thanks, to these forums I became aware of Bidville and I am actually looking forward to start listing. I was not around for the beginning of ebay but I would like to think I came in on the ground floor with this one. For 2 years I have tried to go through the registration process to sell on yahoo and Amazon, both sites send me accepting emails.(you can start selling now etc, etc.) Then when I post they tell me sorry someone already has your name and password, chose another, I chose another then they come back and say someone is already using that credit card.(Duh! me on both counts.) All attempts to contact them to straighten this out was futile. This Morning I signed up for bidville you know what I got? I got a nice acceptance email, and I got to post some auctions I am ahead of the game so far. So too all of you that made me aware of this venue I say thanks ahead of time and I think with a little patience I am willing to give it my darndest.
Ebay is still going to be my main source, I have signed up to continue on with auction watch but I think it is time for me at least to give Bidville at a real good try.

I am going to wait on my next round of thoughts about BidVille until I see how their site shapes up. A whole bunch of listings does not spell success.
For example, I still see hundreds of illegal items listed on their site, many in the tv memorablia category. I emailed BidVille about a month ago to see how they were going to deal with this. They didn't have a plan then and it looks like they still don't.
They are "talking the talk", but not "walking the walk".
Let's see them put the rubber to the road (in other words, a little more effort than simply providing space to list and sell stuff) before passing final judgement.

I guess it all depends on what you are selling. I sell jewelry supplies. I do real well on Yahoo, but on Bidville, I have no hits or bids. I just keep hanging in. Glad to see everyone else is having success!

I currently have about forty items listed on BidVille without bids but I'm not particularly discouraged. I'm getting a modest amount of page views. I've sold four items there along with one additional item to one of my buyers due to an e-mailed offer. No rule against that on BidVille. I've also purchased several items there and good deals are to be had on BidVille if you want to buy. I'm particulary excited as the items I have listed now have pics hosted on my own space and are the first I've done not hosted on Auction Watch! I took AW at their word about a month ago when they first started mentioning the upcoming fees and started making arrangements. BidVille has an excellent item listing page that is not cluttered and it's easy to switch back and forth to make sure you have your HTML correct and everything is displaying properly. Just make sure you use the back buttom they provide and not the one on your browser! I learned that the hard way when I lost everything I had typed. I have hopes that BidVille will enact some chat boards to make a sense of community but they may have that on the back burner to curtail user complaints on the boards as it may be a problem they don't want to deal with at this time. I encourage everyone trying to learn to use their own templates to give BidVille a try. List a few items and see how simple it can be.

My Bidville sales have picked up considerbly. I can't see myself returning to Yahoo for any level of fees at all. Bidville has been a welcomed surprise.

Poss717; I don't know anything about jewelry but I think there is a Bidville Jewelry Club on Yahoo. You can list your jewelry in their club for some extra exposure. If they dont have a jewelry club the main Bidville club will start one for you.
