Half.com just allowed users to start pricing products above half off. This primarily to allow sellers to now start listing collectibles on the site.

What is everyone's thoughts on half moving into the collectibles market. Will this be a compliment to ebay, or could it potentially move more and more auction from ebay to half?

I have noticed that some of the above half price items have begun to appear on their home page. These are current hot cds but they seem to move, even at more than half price.

Certainly collectibles in the book, video, music area could work since I often search for hard to find titles hoping someone has listed it by mistake.

Although now owned by eBay, it still functions pretty smoothly except at peak times, and the discount coupon promotions really spiked my orders at the end of August!

I like the fact that there are no deadbeat bidders, the listings and photos are pretty much done for you, and the shipping details are easy.

I dislike the large CD sellers with low feedback numbers who constantly rip off the half.com customers through misrepresenting condition, nonshipment, and failing to respond to confirmation requests. Half.com should be brutal on these guys since this is what is going to cause thousands of new buyers to never return.

Between the bad sellers and the relative small size of their database, it's really not to many folks advantage to list on half.com.

I took a pile of about 20 factory prerecorded videos and attempted to list them on the site. Out of the 20, only four were able to be listed...either the title or the version or the complete ISBN or UPC code was not in the database.

On top of that, I find sellers misrepresenting items by listing them under the wrong version. There was what I thought an inexpensive DVD of some old cartoons that I liked, but I received a very poor VHS video instead...the two shared the same characters but that was it.

Perhaps there are no deadbeats but there are still plenty of avenues for bad sellers to defraud on half.com.
