Only A Few Facts - The Truth About BidBay
One only has had to read their boards regularly to get these facts; no reading between the lines needed.
1) 60 million public offering, truth, they only need a fraction of this, more would only line their pockets, in their shell game they have begun.
2) Imagine 4 million users, even posting just 10 images each, can you say *crash* and and *burn* to their servers, let alone their hosting servers bill.
3) Contests: their own staff winning them, a clear violation of State and Federal laws, yeah, no favortism either in their own contests just to keep their numbers up.
4) Nowhere but BidBay, will a CEO and staff members lower themselves, besides their few actual active members, trolling other boards, not just AW, very flaky, very hard to give any respect when none has been earned.
5) One year old, site broke down with glitches every week, or something not working right, "we do so much for you", were have I heard that before, very sad.
6) In regards to the members concerns(like AG2's personnal attack, nice paycheck though), they have know all these same Issues that have been dragged about for months before and longer, seen any changes, was it all a big publicity stunt ???
7) Online auctions are about trust, between a bidder and a seller, if you do not have any doubts, keep on using them, but i have too many to use them. Do you trust them, why ???
Let me also say thank you AW, for your professionalism, and letting me post.

In rebuttal:

Where do you get your estimations from...cereal boxes??
2) Imagine 4 million users, even posting just 10 images each, can you say *crash* and and *burn* to their servers, let alone their hosting servers bill
Geeze...not all members post auctions. Besides, they own their own ISP. Get with the program.
3) Contests: their own staff winning them, a clear violation of State and Federal laws, yeah, no favortism either in their own contests just to keep their numbers up.
The Contests have been discontinued..old news there as well.
4) Nowhere but BidBay, will a CEO and staff members lower themselves, besides their few actual active members, trolling other boards, not just AW, very flaky, very hard to give any respect when none has been earned.
Hmmm...I believe Mark Dodd himself has graced these boards to suspend Bidbay supporters...why have moderators?
5) One year old, site broke down with glitches every week, or something not working right, "we do so much for you", were have I heard that before, very sad.
I assume you know an infallible site that never has problems? Please send me a link to it. Until then...

Hi AG2,
I don't know what you edited out as I was sleeping, but my opinion of Bidbay has not changed.
MEOW pft pft!!
>^,,^^,,^<
1) 60 million public offering, truth, they only need a fraction of this, more would only line their pockets, in their shell game they have begun.
IPO's are not based on 'need'. There have been stock offerings for millions on little more than storefronts that 'needed' say only $1200 / month. However the point is rather moot now as Internet stocks are beginning to take their rightful place about 6.5 inches below the pond scum on that backed up old creek out back.
2) Imagine 4 million users, even posting just 10 images each, can you say *crash* and and *burn* to their servers, let alone their hosting servers bill.
They run NT, which is simply incapable for handling large loads. They need a server capable OS such as BSD Unix, but I doubt if their techs would be qualified for it. Unix people as a general rule are not known for innovative designs of smiley faces.
3) Contests: their own staff winning them, a clear violation of State and Federal laws, yeah, no favortism either in their own contests just to keep their numbers up.
A non-issue. GT has found religion, or was it AG2. Or was it the majority of his users pleading with him to end the madness on a thread devoted to the issue of contests...
4) Nowhere but BidBay, will a CEO and staff members lower themselves, besides their few actual active members, trolling other boards, not just AW, very flaky, very hard to give any respect when none has been earned.
Comical actually. Nothing to get flustered about. Remember the Peter Sellers movie 'THE MOUSE THAT ROARED'? Thats what it kinda reminded me of.
5) One year old, site broke down with glitches every week, or something not working right, "we do so much for you", were have I heard that before, very sad.
The OS, being Microsoft, is junk. Windoze has even embarrassed Bill Gates on a number of occasions by locking up. The techs mean well, but they only have so much to work with.
6) In regards to the members concerns(like AG2's personnal attack, nice paycheck though), they have know all these same Issues that have been dragged about for months before and longer, seen any changes, was it all a big publicity stunt ???
AG2 got paid as a consultant. Period. Lets see, the contests are almost over (a few billies left..). Recipes corralled. Number inflation reduced. Good start. Not publicity, so much a a necessity to gain credibility for advertisers. They're in for the long haul now, since any stock offering would be lucky to fetch a few seashells.
They've seen the light, or at least *something*, probably from Area 51. But will it last? Kinda like my cat. He *knows* damn well not to bite or use his claws. But how long will he remember? Inquiring minds want to know! Espeically Slick. My nephew's python.
7) Online auctions are about trust, between a bidder and a seller, if you do not have any doubts, keep on using them, but i have too many to use them. Do you trust them, why ???
Online auctions are P2P - person to person services. Ideally the auction service itself would be almost invisible and stay out of everything. Auctions have nothing to do with trust, and only a very limited ability to deal with fraud. A risky business, but thats how it is and why feedback is so important.
Right now I am 'trusting' them with some of my auctions. They have moved some around. One to an idiotic category. No big deal. When the time comes I'll just move it to another site. And possibly the rest also. Except for one sale, they have done me no great good, or any great harm. These are not *bad* people. Just occasionally misguided. And even funny. Like GT's delusions of grandeur about being '#2'.

THANKS! for all the FREE advertiseing for BidBay..........those that are not followers will go and see for themselves if they like the site or not.
those that are followers will remain here complaining with all the others without trying the site and will lose in the long run.
all this bashing took me to bidbay and i sell antiques and have sold there from 5.00 to 25.00 items in the first week.
bidville on the other hand i sold 1 thing in a month for 10.00 and had 2 deadbeats ........you be the judge
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE WHEREVER YOU LIST!

I went to look and all day I get "we are updating our systems". So I cannot look. Shouldn't they do this like ebay does in the middle of the night?

I could be wrong but I believe they are getting rid of some catagories that nobody uses to clean up the site. As to my experience since returning, I have 30 items up, 6 have bids with one having 7 bids on it. I am very impressed. I am endorsing the site and the changes that have and continue to be made. At the same time, I also have 25-30 items listed on Epier and Bidville as well and have no plans on leaving those sites. I believe a competitive marketplace is the best thing to try and keep Ebay from growing any more than they have.

Ballsandstrikes,
I for one am glad you came over to BidBayalways good to see your posts and your auctions. I do believe your correct in the reason the site is down, they have been doing a lot of updating lately. I have been selling at BidBay for over a year now and have had super sales. Things are a little slow right now; but then they are everywhere. Next time I fly to your area I will give you a buzz and maybe we can have lunch.
Take care,
Capt Ron
