Last week I decided to take the plunge and list auctions on a few of the smaller sites. I'd checked out Bay9 and since there was a reasonable amount of bidding going on thought it might be worth a shot.
Yesterday I received an e-mail from Bay9 letting all their sellers know about their new promotions and their new commission fee structure, which starts with items listed today.
No listing fees, but get this--20% commission on each item that sells! Yowza! I don't think I'll be using Bay9 much in the future. Seems to me 20% is just a bit steep.

LOL, dimview. Have you ever listed on Bay9? If you do you'll see why the 'category' structure is the way it is.
You CAN'T EVEN designate a category when you list! Instead you add 10 'keywords' to boxes so bidders can find your items by searching.
I thought when I first checked out the site a while back that it was a bit weird, but auctions do get bids there so figured hey, something must work here.
Anyway, with this new 20% commission I surely won't be listing anything more there and I wouldn't be surprised to see the listings drop considerably.
Hmmmm. Maybe this is some kind of plot! Charge more than the big site, and what's going to happen to Bay9? LOLOL
