Well, if that is indeed the case, here's what you do:
If You LIKE a particular auction site:
1) Be sure to be a member of it even if you don't buy and sell there. Your membership adds to their overall numbers and helps draw potential members as well as advertisers.
2) Make sure that you visit the site several times per day...add as many "hits per page" to the site as possible. Each and every hit on the front page and/or on a seller's auctions helps. Again, the more hits, the more potential members and advertisers...as well as more seller listings and perhaps even more bids because of auction view numbers.
3) Without a doubt, visit other discussion boards and post your opinion about the site as much as possible. The more the site is taked about, the more people will visit to confirm your positive comments. If you say the staff is great, people will check the site and form their own opinions.
4) Of course, when a "newbie" or an experienced seller requests input on different auction sites, be sure to add your input to their thread. Promote your preferred site to the best of your ability so they will be interested enough to at least give it a shot.
If you DISLIKE an auction site:
1) Be sure to be a member of it even if you don't buy and sell there. That way, you can have access to their respective chat boards & newsletters to find stuff to complain about. "Since you are a member".
2) Make certain that you visit the site several times per day...add as many "hits per page" to the site as possible so you can keep up with all of the rumors, comments, and general happenings of the site.
*Note: Be sure to check all of the questioned auctions as well to ensure that others are doing their jobs.*
3) Without a doubt, visit other discussion boards and post your opinion about the site as much as possible. The fact that all the constant complaining is taking time away from the actual business of buying and selling is irrelevant.
4) Of course, when a "newbie" or an experienced seller requests input on different auction sites, slam the one you dislike as much as humanly possible. Refer to Rules 1-3 for further details.

Now, with all of that said, what is your opinion? Do you prefer to promote the site(s) you use with praise or post negative comments about site(s) that you don't? Notice that NO sites are mentioned anywhere here. I'm just really curious as to why the bashing threads outnumber the positive ones on each and every site that allows discussion of other auction sites.
To quote Paul Stanley from the rock group KISS: "If you hate us...God bless you. If you love us...that's fine too. If you're in the middle...get out."

Well, when I like one, I do all of the things mentioned.
When I dislike one I stay away from their site unless something is called to my attention by a member. Then I go read. I never go in through the front page because they normally take too long to load, so my presence there doesn't affect any numbers. I also never go to auctions so the hits don't include my presence.
I will, however, state the truth on other message boards. And I will try to get my information removed from the sites so I'm not considered a member. If I dislike a site, why remain a member?
As I told a newbie person here, to each his own. Whatever they decide, who cares? It's not my pocket we're talking about.
Taking away from business? Some of us can do two things at once. We can chat and we can list. We can chat and even talk on the other phone line. LOL! I can even chew gum and chat and list at the same time.
This is not meant to be confrontational or argumentive, nor is it meant to create havoc. This is just my personal opinion.

One does not have to be a member to view a chat board. Maybe that needs to be done. However I don't make it a habit to post things that I would mind others seeing. If I like an auction site, I buy there, I sell there and I tell others about it. If I do not like an auction site, I do not buy there, I do not sell there and I tell others about it.
Also I believe if you look at the other forums, like ebay perhaps, you will see just as many people complaining about them. This is more visible because there aren't as many posts. On the ebay forum, a single post can be lost in a few minutes because of so many being posted afterwards.
You have a marvelous day now and take care of all those kiddies!!!

MEOW pft pft
edited to say I just went over to ebay forum on AW and looked. RTalon maybe you should also, you will perhaps feel better.

Hey, I like this question! Let's see, I try to talk nicely about the sites I like. Yes, I do once in a while say something negative about sites I don't like but try to keep that down to a minimum.
If I really like a site it also gets good mention on my web page. If a site goes turn-coat or some such by the next update anything that had to do with that place will be stricken from my website--no bad mouthing, no nothing, it's just gone. (Which reminds me there are a couple that are going to disappear within the next short while, LOL.)
Yep, I'm guilty of hanging out on the chat board on the site I just love to hate, but that's more like research for the newsletter. I find all kinds of juicy tid-bits here and there and everywhere to keep my readers happy.

You also forgot to add rtalon:
If you dislike a site:
#6 You take on many multiple id's and continue to come back to stir up trouble at that site. And when I say many...were talking sybil numbers here...LOL

I for one do talk good about sites that I like! I sell at them and buy at them. If I see people talking about a site I will respond if I feel like it. I talk negative about negative sites like ones that put up phonie numbers and play games with them and the buyers and sellers. I cant figure out how you can talk free on a site that gives you the boot if you ask guestions they dont like. I did not name any sites also but it is not to hard to figure out the ones I am talking about is it? Have a nice buying/selling day.
