for all you ebay thumpers...give epier a shot!! for just being the new kid
on the block they are doing pretty dang good!! heck i'd even go so far as to
say pretty dang great!!

if any of you ebay thumpers remember back to the "olden" days when ebay was the new kid on the block you'd remember they weren't that hot either when they started!! epier is making a name for itself and ebay better watch out!!

with all the restrictions that ebay is gonna start enforcing come May 31st i'm sure epier will be benefitting greatly when all the mice abandon ship and head on over to the NEW FREE EPIER AUCTION SITE!!

heck it only costs $2.50 (that's TWO DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS) to FEATURE an auction!! you can feature a whole bunch there compared
to epay's $19.95!!

epier is making improvements almost daily so come check them out and give them a try before throwing your money into ebay's corporate hands!!

Read the message about ePier's sell-through rate:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=33&thread=9038

I determined ePier's sell-through rate to be around 1.4%; eBay's sell-through rate is probably, what, 30%, 40%, 50%?

What kind of "growth" is ePier going to have to come up with in order to provide seller's with a 30% sell-through rate?

[(30 / 1.4) - 1.4] x 100 = 2,000%

I wouldn't even venture a guess on when those kinds of levels will be achieved.

eBay is CLEARLY the only game in town.

corrected math error.

Looks like action is picking up on the site, there has been a major increase in bids over the last week.

Dimview
you said ,
"I determined ePier's sell-through rate to be around 1.4%."

I believe there will be a sharp increase in this number over the next few weeks.

Listings have been a little flat , but I think there will be major gains there also.

Why? What's going to happen?

I do plan to revisit the ePier and Bidville sell-through rate issue in a few weeks.

I'd like to ask a favor of all of you who rave about how well you're doing on the alternative sites... PLEASE let us know what kinds of things you sell. A site where sports cards or new wholesale knicknacks sell like hotcakes isn't going to do me any good.

I've looked at all the sites mentioned on these threads, and for the things I sell (vintage and antique collectibles) the sales are virtually nonexistent. If anyone knows of a "niche" site that caters to this type of seller & buyer, I'd love to hear about it!

well dimview it seems to me that ebay wasn't all that great when it started back in September 1995

hmmm...do the math...ebay has had approx a 6 yr head start on epier

i stand behind my statement that epier is an up and coming auction site!!

and besides who designated you the be-all end-all source on auction sell through rates?? was there a vote i didn't know about??

and the growth i believe Mikecol is speaking of will be a result of ebay's new list of rules and regulations that take effect on May 31st...i believe that more and more sellers will be leaving ebay as it gets more restrictive

joanne...i sell clothing, jewelry, household and misc items...my husband sells coins

i can't say if epier would be the site to list your items but its free and it wouldn't cost you anything to try!!

i'm sure there are speciality auction sites out there...have you tried the search engines for all the auction sites?? there are dozens of them out there

Its a self-appointed position.

< grin >

If you disagree with my assessments about ePier or any other auction site sell-through rate, you should be all means post refuting data.

well dimview i'm glad to see you have a sense of humor!!

hmmmm...i don't know about "self-appointed" people...haven't had very good experiences with them in the past

but anyways some of us have actual lives offline!! yes dimview there is life away from the computer screen!! **grins**

i would love to give you data proving epier's superiority but unfortunately i have a husband and children that demand my time

if i would by some miracle get the time required to do this i will let you know!!

Hi Joanne
Have you looked at ehammer for antiques. http://www.ehammer.com/
or if you sell home hardware and furniture try www.oldhousejounal.com they have a free want ads section that is kinda neat.

Joanne:

I sell on Bidville under the same ID I have here. I sell the kind of things you're looking for I think. A lot of other sellers do too. Although Bidville does have a lot of sports cards..I know that there are many sellers that do sell antiques, collectibles, glassware, pottery..ect. like I do. It's worth a look see.

Give it a try..maybe you'll find what you're looking for.

Why? What's going to happen?

Looks like it is already happening , listing picking up , the number of bids and site traffic are way up.

Mikecol,

Yup. I noticed. Posted about it before reading this thread.

The traffic is way down in this Other Online Auctions forum, though, for what I believe are reasons not associated with buying and selling on other online auctions. There's another reason.

Just checked listings on ePier in a category which I primarily use on eBay.
Total auctions = 146 Total Bids = 0
Maybe it's a slow week!

well jalleniii i can't speak for all the sellers on epier but i for one am thrilled with the bids today!!

out of 2 categories i sell in:
388 total, 9 bids, FOUR ARE MINE!!
626 total, 7 bids, FOUR ARE MINE!!

i just listed new stuff last night and it certainly has paid off!! i'm hoping the holiday weekend will bring even more bids!!

dimview...the traffic is down on these forums because of a protest...this site has been listed off limits by certain groups as a protest of its moderation tactics

Looks like the numbers are starting to move at a faster pace.

Bidding is at an all time high.

The seller base is growing nicely.

Should be interesting to watch.

It's not only about fees , it's time for a wakeup call.
