Just got the bad news from paypal. A seller ripped me off. The seller showed one item at auction and then mailed a fake item that was clearly different than the one shown. The seller will not issue a refund and says the item was sold as is. This "as is" part was not in the ad. Seller refuse my letters. I paid with funds in the account so I cannot do the credit card protest.
Apparently if the seller sends something or possibly anything there is no recourse with paypal. Partial text of the Paypal e-mail is below.
"PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy does not apply to disputes about the
attributes or quality of goods received. As a result, we cannot reverse
the transaction or issue a refund. We encourage you to continue to work
directly with the seller for an amicable resolution.
PayPal does not tolerate fraud or illegal activities."
I particularly like that last sentence. What this seller did was clearly fraud and illegal in my opinion.
This thread is intended for information purposes only based on a real life experience. This is not a slam on Paypal since the seller was clearly at fault. I thought that people that use Paypal should be aware of this and should not have to loss $100 to find out.
