I have been looking around at the different auction sites. For now my main site is bidville but I signed up yesterday with a new site called AuctionSaloon I like it and think it has a lot going for it. It is free listing and features, free to down load your image. It is very easy to move around in and to list to if you have a question or problem just ask a real person gets right back to you. I asked auctionsaloon to add some new catagories within a few hours they were up and I was listing to them (Now that is fast service.) There is alot of other good things about this site so check it out. But remember it is only about a month old and is just starting to grow. Have a nice buying/selling day.

I've been keeping my eye on that site for the past couple of weeks. Haven't decided whether to try listing there or not. I have a list of about a half-dozen potentials that I haven't made any final decisions on.

Currently I'm listing on BidVille, ePier and SYI. Haven't decided, though, if I'm going to keep listing on ePier yet or not.

Wallypog, I also sell on Bidville I like bidville and plan on keeping most my listings there. But this new site AuctionSaloon has some things bidville dont and bidville has somethings this new site does not have yet. AuctionSaloon dont have many members or listings as of now but it looks good and the owners are nice people. It is very easy to move around in and list on. If you deside to list some items and they dont have the catagories you need or like email them they probley will help you out. I believe this site will grow and you are more then welcome to grow with it. Have a nice buying/selling day.

How long has the site been open?

Doesn't look like an awful lot of sellers there at all. Lots of things listed multiple times with only about 350 or so auctions running.

Do they have a bulk loader and can you import your auctions from other sites?

I couldn't find this information on the FAQ pages.

Doesn't look like you are entering a secure area to enter CC information.

Maybe the owner will stop by and answer some questions.

They offer alot of free services look into it if I can be of anymore help ask I will do what I can. Have a nice buying/selling day.

Hi Toollady!

I am Andretti the owner of Auction Saloon and I will be mor ethen happy to answer your questions..

>How long has the site been open?
We are 4 weeks or so young!

>Doesn't look like an awful lot of sellers >there at all. Lots of things listed >multiple times with only about 350 or so >auctions running.

Right now i agree the listing seem to be kinda slim but have you looked at both the general listing side and the adult side? Also we do have the buy now option that seems to work quite well. Everything takes time and this is everything. I am confident that as the future comes along us day by day that Auction Saloon will soon move up in the ranks.

>Do they have a bulk loader and can you >import your auctions from other sites?

Actually we are working on a bulk loader now. And no we do not have the ability to import auctions from other sites sorry Also other sites might feel that we were violating their terms of service..

>I couldn't find this information on the FAQ >pages.
Tha Faq pages will be updated real soon.

>Doesn't look like you are entering a secure >area to enter CC information.

Why would you enter a credit card on Auction Saloon? Everything is Free and will always be free as far as I can tell. We exist off of what I provide and users donate.

>Maybe the owner will stop by and answer >some questions.

It is done!

Thanks for asking and don not hesitate to ask anytime. I usually peruse the most important board around the net and am a memember anywhere that counts.

Thanks
Andretti

theoneanlyandretti,

I was clicking on all the link. (bad habit! LOL) One was for credit card billing.

If the site is free to use, then why are those links even there?

I was interested in the general auctions, didn't check out the "grown up" side, but just checked and only see an additional 114 auctions, so I guess that is a grand total of 475 or so auctions with only 132 registered users.

I was just comparing the listings with another site that is 4 or so weeks old as well. Only they have over 6,000 auctions and growing daily. Since I have limited time these days, with school being out and children at home, I need to get the maximum exposure for my listings at the alternate auction sites, in addition to where I normally list.

I'll have to check the site out again in a week or so and see how things are progressing before jumping into the pool.

One suggestion though, if I may, loose the fuschia and chartreuse on the message boards. Sunglasses are definitely required when viewing!

Toollady, I will say it again this is a new site so the listings and membership as of now is low like most sites when they first start. All I am saying is it a very good site user friendly easy to list on and free also the owners are easy to work with. They have alot of other free options look closly and you will understand what I am saying. I cant say for shoure but I would guess the CC link is for when they charge later on down the road for the bells & whisles like the other sites do JMO. Some people like to wait till a site has over 1 million listings then sign up, I go by the way I feel about something if I like it I jump in (Hey its free) and this site will grow. Thanks for stopping and taking a quick look hope some day you put some listings up and grow with us. Have a nice buying/selling day.

telwil,

Well, if there are going to be fees down the road, then I would like to know about them up front.

I'm getting tired of all these sites popping up and saying it's free until they feel like slamming you with fees. Look what's going on with the 3rd party payment services, the image hosters and the auction management sites.
And as far as growth on the site, another site came out at the same time and has well over 6,000 auctions currently running, with a total of over 12,000 since it's inception, with the auctions getting bids, not just being churned over and over on the site.

Now, to me, that is growth, not 600 or so auctions in the same time frame, many of which are 4 and 5 auctions of the same item by the same seller.

I'm more than willing to list on alternative sites, if there is some action, even if it isn't in my area of listing.

Good Luck wherever you list!

Toollady, I understand what you are saying about sites nickle & dimeing the seller to death. But what I was talking about is all sites charge for Gallery ect most start out free but charge later on, some of them leave the basic listings free that could be what the CC link is about but that is (JMO Just My Opinion). This is the slow time of the year I normaly build my inventor so I am ready when September comes. Because of the high fees and changing policy of BooHoo & ebay I dropped my listings and have moved them to the free site like AuctionSaloon & Bidville. I wish all sellers luck on any site they sell on with all the charges and the Post Office rates going up it is hard to move your items. So I wish you luck toollady and thanks for the chat. Have a nice buying/selling day.

<<Everything is Free and will always be free as far as I can tell.>>

LOL-- famous last words, with a loophole big enought to sail the QE2 through....

Andretti-- I'm not trying to burst your balloon, but if you hope to compete, you have to provide the level of service that the Big Sites provide, site stability, speed, timely customer support, *security* that works properly to woo the big ticket buyers & sellers--- a site built on $1.00 auctions is dead in the water. All these things cost big buck$ to implement properly, as membership and the site itself grow, you'll need better servers, 24 hour staff to deal with tech problems and outages, people to answer emails, lawyers and accountants to deal with allegations of fraud and other complicated issues, on and on and on, and unless you're a multi-millionaire who needs to lose money in a business endeavor for tax purposes, sooner or later you'll *have* to start charging some kind of fees just to stay afloat. To turn a profit you'll have to charge even more.
Otherwise you'll become just another temporary blip on the already bloated-to-the-max online auction scene.
Hate to say it, but at the moment your site looks very amateurish, you have a long road ahead of you.
Good Luck )
I urge everyone to enter "online auctions" at www.google.com search engine, I think you'll be amazed at what you see.

I like the site! Looks like alot of work went into the building of it to me (But I am no expert). Some people say why build auction sites the big boys have it all wrapped up. Well if you like paying high prices to sell and beening push around be cause they are big boys and know they can get away with it "Stay their" I dont like the big boys. I will stay with the new guy that is small now but growing you know the ones that are happy to have me as a seller and listens a little to what I have to say that responds with a personally reply when I have a question, that works hard to try and make a little money out of this big net auction world. The big sites have no respect for the little sellers so I have no respect for them. Why try and run down the new sites if you dont like them that much hey start your own or buy stock in the big boys I understand BooHoo stock is pretty low now. Some of the small sites will fall that is expected "but to bad" but I believe if they have the sand to try I will help them. But some will make it and grow and maby one day give the big boys a run for their money (That is my hope). So to me it is simple sat back and take the abuse and roll over for the giant or stand up and find a little site and try to bring him down to size. I believe in free interprise and I support a site that helps me. Have a nice buying/selling day.

Hey don't get me wrong, I wished the guy luck and I hope he makes it, we all deserve a little success in life But when you go on a public forum and put your site up for inspection, you can't expect unbridled enthusiasm from *everybody*, there are certain realities involved.
When you say "I will stay with the new guy that is small now but growing you know the ones that are happy to have me as a seller and listens a little to what I have to say that responds with a personally reply when I have a question", thats a great sentiment, but thats only going to work with a site that has little to no growth. 100 people firing off an occasional email for support is fairly easy to deal with and respond to personally, but what happens when membership grows to 1000, 5000? Thats an awful lot of emails coming in, and who's going to respond to them? The site is *free* remember, zero revenue coming in, not many people I know want to work for someone for nothing, so that leaves the site owner to answer all the emails. And deal with site issues.
Seems like a simple equation- The more members you have, the more staff you need to deal with the concerns of those members to keep them happy.
I can tell you that, right now, a smaller-but-growing site that I won't name here has a Tech Support forum with an even *50* messages that have gone unanswered by the sites support staff. The last support post was May 31. IMO that's the legacy of a "free" site, sooner or later. And the net result is disgruntled and disappointed members.
It wasn't long ago that this particular site was being praised for it's "personal support", nowadays you don't even get a form letter response to email.

I also signed up shortly after the site came on line. The owner is one heck of a guy. But I had two sales and seems like both are deadbeats. I haven't listed any more, I don't have time for people playing games. I will wait til the site is alittle more popular and maybe I will get some real buyers.

But I do hope the auction saloon is successful.

So keep checking back it will get better as time goes on. Since my last post there have been some catagorie changes and more to come. So stop & shop have a nice buying/selling day.
