I contacted tech support earlier myself (just before my original post). Still have not heard anything and still cannot register. I will try again tomorrow. There are some things I'd like to buy on this site. Normally I buy on Ebay, but I think this site has more to offer.

Try this link. I get the signup page. It might be something on your end if you can't access it. I haven't had any problems with the site having been posting items and dealing with negotiations all weekend with no problems.

Whoa! There is something wrong with the signup page when you click the link. I get a Microsoft error page, however, if you hit Refresh you see the signup page. What the heck?

BargainandHaggle said they had upgraded servers in the last week or 2 to handle increasing traffic so apparently there are bugs in the upgrade. I'm getting problems with every page now!

It's shoddy service like this that will prevent BargainandHaggle from solidifying a #2 spot behind eBay.

Right now as far as auction sell-through I'd put eBay #1, and Yahoo and BargainandHaggle fighting it out for #2, and everyone else a distant 4th or worse. They can't afford to pull stunts like this and drive bidders away! When you've got momentum, DON'T LET UP!

(not counting Half.com and Amazon Marketplace as auction sites although they have great sell-through)

Bargain and Haggle or Yahoo at # 2! LOL, I don't think so!

I don't know who you are? or Why I should consider you an important critic? Maby you have a motive for your comment? All I know is I have had the best sellthrough in the month and a half I have been there, then I did in the last year at Yahoo!
Except for the tech. problems with trying to make the site better, I have no complants. I also find the buyers to be more serious and starting to look foward to more items to buy!
P.S. I hope you are right about their rating with ebay?

collectstocks2,

Just venting some frustration. Don't mean to rip BargainandHaggle but QOS is key to success in any venture! I've also had excellent sell-through on BargainandHaggle so I guess we have to cut them a little slack. Had some free time today and wanted to put up some more listings. Guess that's shot now with their problems!

deichen,

There's no real #2 auction site, but I might give the nod to Yahoo. However, I don't post items on Yahoo anymore since they charged for listings and my auctions tended to get a lot of looks and very few bidders. Exact same items crosslisted on BargainandHaggle actually got offers! The items I sell I have a virtually unlimited supply of so I crosslist them on almost all the quality sites I run across (i.e. ePier, Bidville, Dutchbid, eBay, Amazon, etc.). Same items, same starting bids except I offer them for much higher starting bids on BargainandHaggle to accomodate the haggling aspect (prices get negotiated down so you need to allow a haggling cushion), but the only place I can seem to sell is on eBay and BargainandHaggle. Amazon has died and ePier and Bidville never had any sell-through to begin with, although both have many times the listings BargainandHaggle does. Like everyone says, it doesn't matter how many listings a site has --- the only thing that matters is SELL-THROUGH! eBay and BargainandHaggle have it!
BargainandHaggle is a Darkhorse coming out of nowhere and climbing the ranks and all I want is for them to maintain their momentum.

Disclaimer: Everything I've said is my opinion based on first-hand personal experience with the various venues, not some massaged/biased statistical analysis. You can't trust much of what you read. Trust yourself and your first hand experience over anything you read.

Keep it in perspective. We are dealing with computers here. In the months that I have been using Bargain and Haggle, this is the first time i;ve seen it go down. If you read TAGNotes, eBay and Yahoo go down multiple times per week. And, knowing that they are upgrading for increased traffic makes me feel good. They are investing in infrastructure which makes me think they'll be around....

AND, Remember Dutch Bids upgrade. Are they back up yet??!

Ok, I humbly apologize. I've seen the error of my ways (thx kitkat)! I'll learn to be more patient with these sites. Besides, the site came back up shortly after my tirade last night and I was able to post my auctions without problems. Meanwhile eBay went down and I couldn't post over there for about an hour. Lesson learned. Even the best suffer technical glitches.

As a side note, have you noticed BargainandHaggle has a fraction of the listings that Bidville and ePier and others have? Heck of a lot more professional and appealing site layout though! How the heck are they attracting buyers with very little merchandise up for bid? Anyone see any advertising for the site? Hopefully they're reinvesting their capital and whatever FVFs they're receiving in bringing more participants to the site.

Bargain and Haggle doesn't have tech suuport. They have a janitor that answers tech questions while he's cleaning the two office building.

Seriously, I emailed them for tech support and they essentially said they could not help. If they can't make their site operational for millions of people who use my kind of browser then I seriosuly doubt they could become a #2 site.

quickdraw,

That was a low blow! So what kind of browser do you use and what was your technical problem. I use IE 5.0 and haven't had any problems.

Quickdraw,

I have always had prompt and courteous support. I am sorry if you had a problem, but has definitely not been my experience.

eSeller004,
I 2nd that! I use IE myself and have no problem with B&H. I have had to upgrade my browser to play games with Java net. But! I can't see how you can blame an auction site?

BargainandHaggle is using Microsoft's Active Server Page (ASP) technology which isn't too compatible with Netscape browsers. Could this be the problem? If it is then simply use IE 5.x and you'll have no problems.

Sites like Half.com that use Java Server Pages (JSP) or eBay which uses CGI are compatible across virtually all browers. We don't know why they chose ASP but these are the kinds of architectural design decisions that will cause problems for some users. It'll get worse if they start to use XML technologies which IE 5.x has no problem with but Netscape chokes on. Time to eliminate Netscape! It's the WEAKEST LINK!

I got a fast and courteous response alright, "We can't help you." That sure is good tech support!

I have sold on over 7 sites and have never had browser problems such as on B&H. They can blame my browser all they want but it's their technical garbage that messes it up.

quickdraw29,
I have to say! I feel bad for you. But,
Did you ever think that maybe thay can't help you with your system?
Pounding your chest on this site only shows you think your going make everyone
think B&H is a bad place to go.
I have never read anything on B&H, or any other site were thay will fix any unrelated problems? I beleve if thay could help? Thay would!
GOOD LUCK

collectsstocks2, I wouldn't know if B&H is a good site because it boots off my browser everytime I go there and click to sell. There's no question they can't help me with the problem because they refuse to adapt their technology to the masses.

That is information to other potential sellers that B&H is limiting their customer base.

I don't feel that putting my head in the sand will solve any problems. But those who are experiencing the same problem and who felt it was only them that had it, they now may be more willing to complain to B&H also, and once B&H hears more complaints they will adapt their technology.

quickdraw29,
I won't add anymore to this subject other then I would like to see you be part of B&H and I have no sugestions that would help.
Maybe Your ISP can help!
GOOD LUCK
