I am the seller in this situation. I had an auction close Monday evening at over $1000.00. The winning bidder chose to pay by PayPal but had only used PayPal once and asked for assistance. I sent a request for money through PayPal on Tuesday morning and received a receipt from PayPal for that request.

On Tuesday afternoon I received the following message from the buyer:
"Hi- I have suceeded in sending you payment with paypal. Please check it out and let me know."

I hadn't received email notification of payment from PayPal, so, I checked my PayPal account and there was no payment listed, but my request for money was still there.

I sent the buyer an email informing him that no payment showed up in my account but the request for payment was still there.

The buyer forwards me a copy of his receipt of payment from PayPal showing that he paid. However, he misspelled my email address. I emailed him and informed him to cancel his payment and send it again using my correct email address.

This morning I received an email from PayPal stating that the buyer had canceled the auction payment request and listing the buyer as the *SELLER*.

I went to my account and sure enough my request for payment to the buyer had been canceled. How can the buyer cancel my request for payment in my account?

Also, if the buyer used my request for payment, which it appears that he did, how could my email address be misspelled? I have received many payments through PayPal without problems.

I dont work for PP but I can explain this. Buyer did not use your request to make payment. He sent it separately to a misspelled address. You sent him a request. A buyer can either accept or cancel that request. You told him to cancel his first payment. He misunderstood (I assume it was done accidentally) and cancelled your request - not his payment. Send him another request and explain to him to cancel his payment and then accept the request.

yisgood,

That doesn't explain why the cancellation notice from PayPal shows the buyer as the seller.

Hi,

I would need to see a copy of the notification before I can advise. Please send it to me at [email protected].
