I had a customer email me sunday afternoon wanting to pay through Achex.com. (http://www.achex.com) I like to offer my customers any and all of the quick payment options, so I said, "what the heck" and signed up.
I was very suprised to check my bank account online early Monday morning and find the payment already credited to my checking account. Were talking less than 12 hours from the customer paying to the money available in my bank account. I couldn't believe it. Maybe it was just a fluke, but that was really fast.
And it was free. Don't know for how long or how they can do it, but it sure beats the 3-5 business day delay that Paypal and Billpoint have getting the money in my bank account. I have a x.com account. Paypal to x.com (an in-house transfer) SHOULD be faster, but it's not.
Paypal is still the preference for 80% of my customers, but I think I'll start pushing Billpoint more with the new lower fee schedule that came out today. The fee is now the same or less and my customer can save $1.00 on every order. (I've been a Paypal business member since the program came out, so I'm used to the fees and have no problem with it. They still charge less than half the fees of my merchant account.)
Other online payment services we've tried:
BidPay - Got money order in 2 days. Great for international orders.
PayPlace - Slow to deposit your money 7+ days
Ecount - Signed up, but no one has used yet
Western Union MoneyZap - No one has used yet
Yahoo PayDirect - No one has used yet
SendMoneyOrder.com - No one has used yet
PayMe - Awful customer service. Will not use again.
Any others worth trying?

There's ExchangePath. They seem to be alot like PayPal in the early days. They have a $10 sign up bonus and you can earn up to $100 in referral fees. A new twist is you have to complete one transaction to get your bonus. They accept most major credit and even debit cards. They'll transfer your funds to your credit/debit card or your bank account but it doesn't look like they send out paper checks via snail mail. (which will save them lots of money.)
I sent a request for payment to what is looking more and more like a non-paying bidder feeding me excuses. Today she claims she joined......Asked how to pay....as I've never received a payment request from them I couldn't tell her snything but ,"follow the directions on the payment request". As her 10 days for the non-payment alert was up she received negative feedback and I got my whole .05 closing fee back last night. Will be surprised if she follows thru.
If I get someone to pay thru them I'll share my experience.

Having used a few of these my experience says:
Payme - No way! Two months to get paid while they told me my customer's account was being investigated for fraud and told a seller I paid that I was being investigated for fraud. They lied repeatedly.
Exchangepath - so far so good. Made and received several payments. Got a few referral fees. Money is already in my CC account. Uses checking account or Visa, MC, Discover, Amex.
Achex - very fast. Works with checking account only, no CC.
Ecount - site says "free-free-free" then they hit you with a $1 payment fee and a $1 withdrawal fee. Bigger liars than Paypal.
Payplace - has always been fast. $5 referral fee. No sign up fee.
Moneyzap - someone paid me even though I wasnt signed up. For a whole week I received no notification and his calls and emails to moneyzap were answered with run arounds. I finally signed up and the money was waiting for me. I'm afraid to recommend a service that can't even send an email. They will also start charging $2 a transaction at some point.
Paydirect - it's free. I havent used it yet. I'm a little afraid because it's run by Yahoo, the folks who think a site should be run by computer and customer service equals a canned reply.

I have been using PayDirect for several weeks and I love it. Absolutely no problem getting the buyers to sign on. They seem to be comfortable with Yahoo in general so they're comfortable with PayDirect.
They will send your funds to directly to your credit card if you wish (I love it).
One drawback: A $5 minimum transaction amount. Many of my transactions are for less than $5 and for those it's either check, money order, or PayPlace.

Achex is the fastest payment service out there! I have had 3 transactions through them so far this week and each has gone from buyer paying to available funds in my bank account in less than 24 hours. I must use the same bank as Achex. LOL. That's the only way I can figure out how they do it so fast. I just hope they can keep doing it free as well.
They need to come out with an auction banner.
Take note Paypal/x.com. (Same company - should be an in house transfer - but still takes 3-4 days. Go figure...)

Based on the PayPal fiasco, I thought it might make sense to move a couple threads back to the top instead of recreating them.
