I tried to have a check sent to me for my money they are holding. When I filled in the information and hit the "continue" button, it just came back to the same page. I have done this many times before with no problems and always got my check from PayPal. I wrote to them and received a computer letter back with instructions on how to request a check. (Obviously, I already knew how). I wrote again, explaining again asking for a "human being" to write to me. I got another computer letter. These letters kept telling me that I had to have a street address in order to receive a check. I HAVE A STREET ADDRESS! I once tried an electronic transfer and it took over a month for my account to be credited. After that I always requested a check. SO, WHY ALL OF A SUDDEN CAN I NOT GET MY MONEY SENT TO ME??? So, I decided to close my account (their proceedure offers to send your balance by check if you close). OF COURSE, I GOT THEIR "THREATENING MESSAGE ABOUT NEVER BEING ABLE TO COME BACK!" WHAT A JOKE! I tried to continue anyway, and then got a message "This account cannot be closed at this time!" WHAT?????? SO, I TRIED LATER TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AND I CANNOT ACCESS PAYPAL! I get a message that keeps asking for my password. I ASSURE YOU.... I AM PUTTING IN THE SAME PASSWORD I HAVE ALWAYS USED!..... NEXT STEP----> I am going to write them a US MAIL letter and pray that they will send me money.... MONEY FROM CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED THEIR MERCHANDISE AND PAID ME THROUGH PAYPAL! I WANT MY HARD EARNED MONEY THAT PAYPAL IS HOLDING! I HOPE I GET IT BEFORE THEY FOLD!

PayPal has once again changed their TOU (surprise). If they won't send you a check they also won't allow you close your account (which would mean they would have to send you check). Good luck...

I'm going on 4 weeks trying almost daily to close my account...really crazy they won't allow it. Luckily I have no funds in it and I will never use it again.. They are just pulling to many weird things for me to trust.

kerrydaway:
If your PayPal account has no money in it, you could just go to Yahoo or Hotmail and open an email account using garbage as your new email address: [email protected] or some such nonsense. Then log into PlayPal, add this new email address, remove the old one and forget that PayPal ever existed. Those guys are'nt even worth worrying about IMO. If they want a dead account on their system taking up server space, so be it.
