We just received our first payments made via PayPal eCheck. The email notification sent out to sellers in this instance warns that merchandise should not be shipped until the transaction shows as "cleared" in their account history, which may take 2-3 business days. Has anyone used the eCheck to pay a seller, and if so, is there any mention to the buyer that payment does not clear immediately and the seller will probably hold the merchandise until it does? I have reworded my TOS in my listings and my EOA notices to reflect the holding time, but I certainly don't want buyers upset because they think their merchandise will ship immediately, as it does with credit card or account balance payments from PayPal.

Echeck has actually been known to take 8-10 days. There is a seller on yahoo who shipped a computer for about $875 when paid with echeck and the customer cancelled the payment after being told that the computer shipped. The seller has still not recovered the money and Paypal said "tough luck."

I am sure they have no idea. When I still accepted paypal, I got ONE e-check. I e-mailed the buyer and told them that I would ship as soon as her check cleared my paypal account. (The auction had ended on a Monday, and this was Thursday). She e-mailed me back that the money had cleared HER account on Tuesday, and that I should be able to ship. I e-mailed back to her and told her that paypal does not clear e-checks on the other end right away, and that I could not ship until it did. Luckily, she was an excellent buyer, and did not have a problem with it. I can forsee some buyers getting mad, though, because although paypal is quick to get it out of the buyer's account, they are a bit slower in sending it into the seller's account.

I can't imagine patronizing a company which finds it cost effective to shill post rather than buy advertising.

The most amazing thing about Achex is there are more testimonials on AW from more people than there are sellers on eBay that state they accept it in their auctions.
One of the few times that I agree completely with sg52.

Why is it that the minute someone says something nice about a service, it becomes a shill post? I dont work for any payment service, but I found out about Achex here, used it about 5 or 6 times and it was the fastest service ever. Too bad they dont take credit cards. about 2 days to get into my account and no chance of a charge back. What's not to like?
And I don't post on ebay.
Uaru: you must work for Paypal since you have said some nice things about it. I guess your posts must all be shills.

Yisgood, this isn't about you, despite the fact that most postings containing "achex" are from you. You might, however, consider the company you're keeping.
It's about a shill from Achex who comes here from time to time to post promoting Achex, rather than buy one of those ads over there on the side, assuming Achex can't afford the one up top.
It wouldn't be so bad if he just said he was posting from Achex. It would even be great if he started taking heat from people who have questions or problems with Achex.
AW deleted the most blatant ones, a pity, because they were so pathetically unbelievable that they made you think of your 7 year old trying to con his 4 year old brother. Such things as "I had this wonderful experience buying something and also getting paid by Achex"...before any auction had ever listed Achex as a payment possibility.

yisgood,
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to suspect something is strange when one day 4 people join AW and give glowing reports about Achex when there is only one seller accepting it on EBay. Wouldn't you call that a bit suspicious by any standards?
Yeah, I've heard many nice things about Achex, the problem is that when less than 6 sellers on all of eBay mention they accept it the number of 'testimonials' are laughable!
If this message board operated like an auction then Achex would have been NARU'd for shilling.
