If we are currently listed as individual accounts, how can we re-use our emails to activate the Business account status and what are the advantages, besides paying Pay Pal the 1.6% per transaction fee? Pay Pal still has not "freed up" the emails in an effort to allow us to use them correctly. While you suggest it is for security reasons, I'll have to say, it's in the programming. Just allow us to change the passwords, and open a new account. If we delete an email, then it should mean deleted, not stored somewhere at Pay Pal in limbo forever? I'd like to see some resolvement on this issue, or we won't be pal's for too much longer....

Hi Empires,

Just to clarify, the fees associated with a Business Account are 1.9% each time you receive money from someone else.

Business Account users will receive customer support on a 24/7 basis and will have the option of using our Auto-Sweep feature which transfers funds to an external bank account on a nightly basis. In the near future, we will be offering a downloadable payment history, batch payments, interest on your PayPal account, debit cards, and checking.

Anyone who wishes to upgrade from a personal account to a business account may do so by logging into your account and clicking on the "upgrade today" button on the overview page. You will be able to use all of your same information.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

Am I the only person that has a problem with the new "Business Account" situation. Let me start with a quote here:

"Mr. Thiel says the company (Paypal) has no intention of ever charging its customers" from the NY Times.

Let me see how this works. You start a service by promising and swearing and advertising it as free forever. You buy a million plus customers with $5 bonuses. You lure in thousands of businesses to participate in your free service and convert their customers into Paypal customers then start charging the fees you swore you would never charge, leaving a business the choice between upsetting their customers by not accepting the same form of payment they did in the past and even advertised and got paid to have the customer join, or pay the fees paypal said they would never charge.

This time it is 1.9%. How much will it be when we all get in a little deeper ?

And where do you draw the line as to who is a business and who is not. Anyone that buys an item and resells it for a profit is considered to be in business according to the law. Therefore, anyone accepting an auction payment is a business and would have to pay your fees.

Jen,

If our added on email uses the Pay Pal service, how does Pay Pal send a check? Does it go to the primary address or the secondary? It's not clear to me.

Thanks
Empires

mrjim,

Thank you for your feedback. I've attached a portion of the newsletter we're sending to our customers about our new site and features that addresses your concerns:

Premier/Business accounts are also available to individuals who would like to take advantage of the premium features. However, no one will be forced to upgrade to a Business/Premier account. Personal Accounts will remain FREE for individual use!

Hi Empires,

Checks are sent to the primary address.

Sincerely,

Jennifer
