I'm currently engaged in an old-fasioned trade with a character I've run into on the auctions.
It's a trade. Merchandice for merchandice. I give 'im stuff... and he gives me stuff back.
However, since no money is being exchanged, I don't know how to safely complete the trade, other than actually driving 10 hours to this kid's home state and exchanging the goods face-to-face.
The idea of an Escrow service came to mind real early, but it seems they only deal with money as payments- not other merchandice.
Anyone know of an escrow service that allows "Trades"?

Something in your experience with this guy leads you to require escrow, and yet you're still looking to do business with him?

I find that comment unusual from a cynic.
I have no experience with him- which is why I was concerned. Like I said- it's a trade. Merchandice for Merchandice. I have as much reason to trust or distrust him as I have if I was engaged in a trade with you- none.
There are a few people I'd trust without a medium. Maybe if I was trading goods with my Grandma. Or the neighbor kid down the street. (At least that way I have a physical presence... and the ability to come knocking on their door.)
I'd PayPal the kid $300 without a second thought- payments can be disputed. A DVD player, however...
I have few options:
* Blind trust that this kid will complete his end of the trade.
*An escrow type service that will mediate, and make sure everything is done well.
Or just don't do it. It's a 12 hour drive to do a little skull-cracking... I prefer just doing it right the first time.
