Had a problem with my computer and had to download AMP again. On installation I got error message that it failed to self register. I can open the program but cannot use it. When I try I get another message saying AMP performed an illegal operation. What is wrong?

Hi Kitty47125,

It looks like you may have a bad installation of AMPro. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program, making sure that you have turned off all anti-virus software for the installation. If you continue to get the same errors, let me know.

Hi Kitty47125,

What operating system are you using, and what is your ISP?

Sonya. Operating system is windows 98 and my provider is a local provider, Blueriver Networking Services, Inc. I might add that I have been using AMP for some time and as I had a problem with my computer, I feel that the fault lies in my computer, but no one can seem to suggest what might be wrong. All other programs, files, etc. are working properly.

Hi Kitty47125,

Please uninstall the program, and make sure that you do not happen to have multiple installations of AMPro. If this is the case, please uninstall all of them by clicking "Start > Run..." and entering the following command (updated to show the actual location of the files on your computer):

isuninst -f"C:\Program Files\AuctionWatch\Uninst.isu"

Then install again and if you get the error again, please copy here the full error message, as this will help us better identify the cause.

Thanks,

-Radu

Hi Kitty47125,

I assume that this is the error that you get when trying to run the program. Do you happen to use a very high screen resolution or large fonts, as these might be possible causes?

Now, I understand that there has also been an error during installation, about a file failing to self-register. Could you please try the uninstall/reinstall process again, and in case the installation error happens again, copy the full error message?

Thanks,

-Radu

Radu. After installation I get the message, "Error. File failed to self register.
C:\{Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Tried\DHTMLED.OCX" I can then open the program, but when I try to use it I am told that "This program has performed an illegal operation." When I click on details I get the info I sent in the last message to you.
