I really like the changes to Post Sale. They are great. But has anyone figured out a very seemingly simple procedure of getting that shipping address to an adhesive label.

There it sits, staring me in the face. I've got to do 800 a month. Now I just cut and paste. Address line by address line to an Avery program. All the while that shipping address is staring at me. Avery says there's nothing they can suggest.

If there was a way to transfer that address to an adhesive label in one shot(for a DVD envelope - size around 8163), I save a day of work. If you were ever able to batch print a page of Post sale addresses, I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven.

I could then do 200 shipments in 45 minutes instead of two days. I could double the size of my auction site which is pretty large now but...

Let's see.

You want an internet-based data repository to allow you access to your customer's data to further extend your business.

For most of the firms I deal with in my profession, that is not a problem. For this site, you >must< be dreaming!

I originally thought that if I loaded my winners into the Customer Management portion of AW after the "9" had been hit, I'd have all of that address information ready and waiting to download. Nope, only the e-mail ID and eBay ID transfer over - because they are pulled from eBay - not from the WBN.

Kahml -

Everytime I approach this subject, AW's "pinks" (or what do we call them, the "aquas", never wade in (excuse the pun.)

This is the black hole of their post-sale system. Even if the engineers could just relate a way to automatedly export the data to Lotus, or import while at Lotus (or Excel) then I could print labels to my hearts content.

Everytime I thing of the possibility - it's better than Viagra.

forceten32 - are you using a data base to hold the address info, or are you merely filling in the fields in the Avery application?

I've gone in 6 months from putting up 2-3 DVDs for the hell of it to silver powerseller. Time is my biggest problem. Whatever database I have, is what AW retains. So I get the address from either Paypal, Billpoint, or AW and transpose directly to label. I can't even do it in one cut and paste. I have to C&P every line.

I could get each customer to fill in the label in AW so that would be the common area for all sales from which a program could extract information.

What I was considering is where the packing ship and label is now in AW, to find a form that is partially adhesive so I could peel off the address and send the packing slip.

I don't care how I do it. I want ANY way to automatedly get the address to an adhesive label.

If AW designed that combo label and packing slip, didn't they have a form in mind that could easily utilize what they programed?

Now as I am writing, I wonder if there are 8 1/2x 11 blank forms come completely adhesive?

I dunno. Any suggestions?

Fred

I used a Dymo LabelWriter EL 60 to print shipping labels. As long as the buyer goes to the trouble of answering the WBN and putting in their mailing address, I am at least able to cut and paste their entire address into the labelwriting software - Unfortunately only about 15-20% of buyers bother to use the WBN system....sigh.

jaymark9 -

You are making my day. Do I assume that Dymo LabelWriter EL 60 is a software program like an Avery? Are there various sizes of labels? Can you put a repeating return address on each? Are the labels relatively easy to obtain?

Thanks for responding.

I ordered the Dymo (which is a small printer) on line and also get my labels on line. Is is relatively easy to use and several different types of labels can be printed, depending on the template and label blanks you select. I've been very happy with it after about 18 months of use.

Look under PC/MAC Labelprinters. The one I have is the EL60, which I'm sure has been replaced by upgraded models.

Hello,

Based on recent feedback, we will be looking to add label formatting as an improvement to the system. We realize that this feature is in high demand, and will keep you posted as to when it will be available.

If you're going to go to the trouble to print a label, instead of just clipping the top of the packing slip off and taping it on the box.

Why not just cut and paste it into the USPS's Shipping Assistant? You'll get free delivery confirmation on priority mail and also verify that the address is deliverable.

Now, if only AW could come up with an interface to the USPS's web site to both verify addresses and print labels. This should be a super easy job since it's just XML.
