To our valued customers,

As promised, AuctionWatch has created a compensation plan for users affected by the double disk failure on May 30 between 6:45AM and 6:10PM PDT. AuctionWatch will credit your account $0.25 for each auction launched through AuctionWatch Sales Manager, Sales Manager Pro and Sales Manager Business Edition that closed on May 30 between 6:45AM and 7:00PM. For sellers using our standalone image hosting system, we will also be refunding all image hosting fees that posted to your statement on Friday, 5/24/02 (the approximate posting date of image fees related to auctions closing on May 30). All credits will be automatically applied to your statement and will appear in the next one to two weeks.

We again apologize for yesterday's system difficulties. Given our commitment to reliable service, we have invested and continue to invest heavily in our systems. Unfortunately, not even the highest reliability systems are completely immune from unexpected mechanical failure. We are spending considerable resources internally to review what additional measures we can take to offer the highest levels of system stability while continuing to provide the most economical service available. We thank you for your continued support as we continue to dedicate every resource to supporting you.

I had several auctions ending on 5/30/02. As you know, bidders often wait until the last minute to bid and since the pictures weren't there for these people, shouldn't those of us with auctions ending 5/30 get compensation as well? Please reply.

Let's see.. I had 22 auction close during this period.. You are going to give me a credit of $5.50, even though by even the most conservative estimate the outage cost me $100.00+ plus in snipe bids.. Plus you are going to keep the listing fees and the FVF on these same auctions. I know there is no way AW can compensate users for "estimated" losses but the very least AW should do is refund all fees collected on the affected auctions IN ADDITION TO the per auction compensation.
