I SEE OTHERS ARE HAVINGING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN DOWNLOADING YOUR NEW 4.2 MANAGER YOUR REBOOT PROMP COMES UP BEFORE THE DOWNLOAD IS COMPLETE IT IS STILL DOWNLOADING WHEN THIS PROMT STOPS THE DOWNLOAD AND ASKS YOU TO REBOOT WHEN YOU REBOOT THE ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP IT IS FOR SURE THE PROMBLEM IS IN THE AUCTION WATCH PROGRAMING WILL WAIT TILL YOU FIX THE PROBLEM ALSO AUCTIONWATCH IS RUNNING REAL SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW TODAY LONG TIME FOR YOUR WINDOWS TO OPEN THANK [email protected]
Thus far, I have only heard from yourself and the one other user since we released the update. After you restart your machine, it will look to connect back to the internet and finish the update.
You could always download the 4.2 from here if you continue to run into errors with the updater.

SORRY CHRIS IT DOES NOT DO WHAT YOU CLAIM IT WILL DO I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL MANY MORE COMPLAINTS COME IN THEN PERHAPS SOME ONE WILL LOOK INTO IT AS USUAL AND FIX IT

Okay, here's one more poster with the same problem. I have now downloaded the new version twice, and both times after the mandated reboot, I get a Update Error message. Could this have to do with antivirus or firewall software that loads when I reboot? Help, please. Marshall

Seems I was retarded this time around and updated directly from SMPro instead of downloading the full update and installing it that way. AW Chris - I had the same problem the poster before me described - the update wasn't complete before the "SMPro will now restart" dialog popped up and tried to restart the program. Of course, since the update wasn't complete, it found errors. An active X runtime error I believe. So now I'm having to download the update from yr provided link, as I should have done in the beginning. Would have done that from the start, however SMPro has a nag-screen built in that almost forces you to update. You'd think that if yr company was going to include that kind of thing, they'd arrange it so that the updates actually WORK. >AHEM!<
And your solution of rebooting the computer to finish the update is just nonsense. Once a connection is broken with the internet, the damage is done. The only way yr proposed solution would work is if the end-user was connected to some sort of LAN. Dial-up users, however, are SOL.

I have the same problem. It stops and asks to reboot in middle of updating .xml. When I try to bring up AMPro to start again it shows "run time 429 active X component can't create object" and I cannot get into AWPro at all.

I know you mean well, but if I knew enough to know where it was on my computer, I wouldn't need AW. Like my son's friend puts auctions up with html, no fees. He's still in college.

I too have the run time error 429. I want the 4.0 version back until these bugs are worked out of 4.2. I have to download the new version daily to get any work done. Not very cost effective AW! I have done exactly what Chris suggested and deleted the old version and installed the new version. I am able to use it after the download, but once the program is closed, I come up with the active x crap. I am loosing time and money and would like the old version back until the bugs are worked out of the new one. I doubt that this is a user end problem being that there are many of the same complaints.

Hello bwheatley,
The error that you encounter might show that there are multiple SMPro installations on your hard disk.
I would suggest uninstalling the current SMPro and any other versions of the program you might have installed. Please use the Add/Remove Programs functionality from Control Panel when doing this. Then, please proceed with installing SMPro again.
