I have had continual problems with my images synch recently. I'm running V4.2.
I get this error:
Synchronization failed - Bad response from server
There is a problem with images synchronization.
Please go to www.AuctionWatch.com and check your images.
If I do that, there are no images there. I recently deleted all my images from the website because of these problems I've been having. It won't upload my new batch and its images. I've tried everything to fix this, including deleting my images online, deleting my images and batches under the AuctionWatch folder on my computer, and finally uninstalling and reinstalling SalesManager Pro on my computer (but the images are still there from before). I've wasted so much time on this. Please help!

I forgot to mention (if this is important), that I am doing all image importing offline using Sales Manager Pro 4.2

I tried synching again, but it did the same thing again, this time with
another file - lullabyclub pjs. I've used both of those files on previous
auctions with no problem.
I then was able to delete all of my images from Pro, which I wasn't able to
before. Now I have no images on the website and only my new images on Pro,
but when I go to synch my new batch, it says

Tommystainedshirt is a new file and has not been used on any auctions yet,
nor on the batch auction I'm uploading.
I tried this a third time and it wouldn't upload my images, but uploaded the auction. I had to manually upload and attach the images through the AuctionWatch website, which really messed the template up and now it looks horrible. Everything looked fine on my preview.

I figured out a work-around:
I have to upload my auction once for each picture contained within and once for the auction itself. It gives me errors of bad response from server every single time. Ultimately, the auction lists. But this is such a pain! I've spent hours on this. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Please check the following:
1. Are you using a proxy of firewall for your Internet connection? Might this cause the repeated synchronization failures?
2. Are the date, time and timezone correctly set on your computer?
3. Please remove the following files from the data folder of your SMPro installation:
- Images.map
- Customtemplates.map
Then start the program and synch. Will errors still happen on each image upload?

I am not behind a firewall. I double-checked to be sure that option is off. I am using a cable connection through AT&T Broadband. Are there any known issues? I believe that the start of all these problems corresponds with my start of cable connection.
I deleted those two files and tryed synching again.

Hello,
Do you have an alternate ISP by any chance that you can dial up on, and try to synchronize with? If not please let me know and I will send you an email so we can obtain the log file from you from Pro (which I will forward to engineering).

On a side not, on the debug screen, I saw that DefaultProxyServer = :80
Does this mean that I AM on a proxy server after all?
I have spent hours trying to fix this mess. I did get your e-mail Sonya, but have had no luck. If I run through the test mode and then synch, it hangs up at Checking Templates, then the program stops responding.
To make matters worse, because of these problems, my auction got listed 3 times and now I have to end the auctions and request credits back from eBay.
Here's another problem thrown into the mix: I have all of the images from my old auctions deleted on both Pro and online. However, Pro keeps pulling them back in 75% of the time, then I have to go back through and delete them again. I am at my wit's end.
posted on September 27, 2002 05:38:22 AM new
Hello,
DefaultProxyServer = :80 is just the default value when no proxy is used, so if you are not using a proxy this should be OK.
Regarding the deleted images, you can reset your SMPro image folder thus:
- manually remove all images from the images folder of your SMPro installation
- delete the "Images.map" file from the data folder
- restart SMPro and synch.
As for test mode, please send the file to Sonya, even if you have not been able to finish the test synch. You might want to try to synch again though, as the program runs slowly with the debug screen on; it might not freeze actually, it just becomes very slow to update.

Sonya and I have e-mail back and forth on this a few times, but I wanted to note that this issue has been out there for almost a week now with no resolution and I am not very pleased.
We are still looking into your problem, as we have been unable to replicate it yet.
If possible, please let us know what is the exact Windows XP version that you are using. This infomation can be found by opening "My Computer", then clicking Help > About Windows.
We have looked into any possible conflicts or compatibility issues between SMPro and Windows XP. We have checked not only XP's regular kit (with a version number identical to yours), but also different combinations of Microsoft-provided security updates, or the Windows XP Service Pack 1. We have been unable to replicate your problem, yet.
We suppose that the cause might be a conflict with another third-party library. Have you installed any new drivers or software lately, which might have caused the SMPro synch failure? Has the cable connection meant installing new communication software?
posted on October 3, 2002 12:30:49 PM new
I guess you could say that my cable connection has software that runs in the background all the time, from the best I can explain it.
posted on October 3, 2002 06:35:42 PM new
The software supplied by your cable company might have a firewall feature that could be blocking our IP address. You might want to check with them and explain the problem, they should be able to confirm whether there is a firewall and tell you how to open the firewall so that you can synch (I am not familiar with your cable company's software, so I am unable to offer any solutions other than to contact them.)
Please let us know if you are unable to resolve this with your cable provider.

I have already responded to Sonya about this on Sept. 30th. Our cable company DOES NOT use a firewall or proxy server. I copied a transcript of my chat log with them. I have the option of turning a personal firewall on, and that feature is turned OFF. I am very frustrated about this whole situation and disorganization and lack of communication among the AuctionWatch employees.

Hello izharris,
I apologize for being unaware of your communication with Sonya. For future reference, it is much easier for us to keep track of communications if you limit your responses to one thread or email as we communicate with hundreds of customers every day. (I do see that you said you were not behind a firewall earlier in this thread, but thought maybe your cable software had a firewall feature that you were unaware of.)
Since the problem started when you switched to your cable provider, I would imagine that it has something to do with the software or cable connection - isolating the problem can be difficult in these cases.
Let me ask another question, I am not sure if this has been asked before and I apologize in advance if so - did you have a subscription to Norton Anti-Virus that you canceled? If so, is the Norton software installed on your system?
Thank you for your patience while we continue to work with you on this.
I was just doing as requested by Radu. I did not initiate separation conversations with Radu and Sonya. There is obviously lack of communication between them. I responded to Radu's posts online and in the meantime Sonya e-mailed me. You can see the history of this all on this one thread.
I have never had a subscription to Norton Anti-Virus because I own the software. Up until last night, the software was not installed on my computer. Now it is.
Radu is the engineer working on your problem, everything that you had sent to me was forwarded on to him. The posts that we made were consistent with the information that we both received.

Sonya,
I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed that there was no communication between you two, but I felt like Diana didn't have a clue what was going on.

Hi izaharris,
Yes, I was 'out of the loop' on the emails you had exchanged with Sonya - sorry about the miscommunication! I see that you have been advised to run the testmode, I am wondering if you have done a tracert to our system? If not, please try this:
1. Go to Start -> Run
2. Type in tracert -d imagehost.auctionwatch.com
3. Let us know the IP address of the last entry (this should be 66.7.130.10)
Thank you for your assistance and for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.

Hello Ingrid,
As mentioned in a previous post, we suppose that a third-party driver or library might be conflicting with the SMPro communication library.
What I would still suggest at this point is to install Windows XP Service Pack 1. As a large number of Windows system files are updated by the service pack, this might, just might, repair the communication conflict that you are experiencing.

Installed SP1, no luck.
On the hunt now for other desktop auction software with HTML editor (hate switching back and forth between FrontPage and auction software). Anyone have any ideas?

No response for 9 days. NOT HAPPY! I see so many of us sellers having image synch problems, yet still no resolution!
