Hello,
I am having trouble sincing AW Pro. The error message I get is:
Sinc Failed: Bad Response from server.
I have tried setting proxy server and port. I set them to the same as what Internet Explorer 5 is set to.
What else should I try? Thanks.
We are using Windows XP, Road Runner Cable connetion over a network with a firewall.

Sonya,
We have Microsoft Small Business ISA server. We are not sure what you mean by allowing the firewall to access the program. Is their a specific port that your program listens to? Thanks.
The problem with firewalls is that they will inhibit access to programs. I am not familiar with that one so I'll need to check and see if there is anything that you can try.
Regards,
Sonya

I have heard back from engineering regarding this issue. It seems that you are behind both a firewall, and a proxy. Please try setting up your firewall to allow for regular http traffic from auctionwatch.com (the regular http port is 80). The, you should set your proxy settings as in Internet Explorer. If this does not work, try the sync without setting a proxy in pro and let us know what you have changed recently about your system.

We have done everything you have suggested and still are unable to connect. This is causing our business major problems. Please help us figure this out as soon as possible.
Note: This program has never worked at this location, we are just now bringing it in-house. Up until this time I have been doing it from my home.

Hello,
I sent the file to engineering and they have determined what the problem is -- it is that you are using Microsoft Small Business ISA server as a Firewall and Web Proxy server, where the proxy was set up to ask for username and password. Please try disabling Access Control for the Web Proxy. Open the Web Proxy Properties within the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), go to the Permissions tab and clear the Enable Access Control check box.

Auctionwatch solution,
The ISA Server is not set to ask for a username and/or password for
internet access. So, that is not the case. (If it were setup for this,
it would ask everyone for a user name and password when they try to open
IE.)

Hello,
I apologize for not getting back to this thread a bit sooner. The problem here lies with the ISA setup so you might want to try contacting ISA support. Before you do that, you can open up the log file, and see what the error message is that ISA returns to you so you know what to give them when you contact them. If you can't locate it, please send me the log file again (or if you need instructions on how to obtain it once more let me know and I'll email them to you again) and I'll retrieve the information for you.

Hello,
SMPro only uses port 80.
If you check SMPro's log file, you'll notice that the error returned by the ISA server is "The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied.". As mentioned in a previous post, you could try to disable Access Control for the Web Proxy; most likely, SMPro will work properly afterwards.

The ISA server is not set to block port 80, and is not set to ask for authorization. Users can and do access the internet without having to provide any authorization. If ISA is requiring authorization then something with SalesMangerPro is accessing another port or is attemting something else that ISA does not understand or allow.
Since SalesManagerPro is your product, I'm not sure why I must contact Microsoft (they don't consult for free you know) to solve this.

Hello,
Most likely, Microsoft products, such as Internet Explorer, use integrated Windows authentication when connecting to the ISA proxy.
As SMPro only uses port 80 and the error code in the SMPro log is 407 (Proxy Authentication Required), we supposed, after checking the relevant Microsoft technical documentation, that the cause of the problem is that your ISA server has Access Control enabled.
If this is correct, please try disabling Access Control for the Web Proxy. Open the Web Proxy Properties within the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), go to the Permissions tab and clear the Enable Access Control check box.

We have finally got it to sinc at least once.
However, now when I go to sinc it starts to work and then when it is sincing images, I get the following error:
Synchronization failed -
There is a problem with images synchronization.
Please go to www.AuctionWatch.com and check your images.
The error message you are receiving when attempting to synchronize indicates that there may be a problem with one or more of your image files.
In order to diagnose which image file(s) are causing the sync error, please try the following:
1. After closing all batches, click the "AuctionSync" icon in the lefthand toolbar.
2. Click the Details button after synchronization starts. This will give you a detailed log of which specific images and/or preferences are being synchronized.
3. When the synchronization halts, you should see an indicator in the details log that will tell you which image file halted the synchronization process.
4. Once you have the image file name, try deleting it from the image bar in AM Pro. Repeat this process until all images are synchronized.
You may upload the image(s) that were halting synchronization directly to our website using the Image Hosting page, and then reimport them into SM Pro after they are online. This way, those particular images will not need to go through the synchronization process.
There are several reasons why an image file may halt synchronization, but most commonly it is due to excessive image size, invalid image format, or corrupted image data. You might also want to check the security level on your browser, anti-virus software, and/or firewall software, as these can prevent image downloads as well.
If the above solutions do not help, here are some additional steps that may solve the problem:
- Go to your AuctionWatch folder on your hard drive (default location is My Computer -> C -> Program Files -> AuctionWatch.)
- Check both the "Images" and "Thumbs" folders, and if the image file(s) are still in either folder, delete them manually.
- Restart SM Pro after doing this, and try synching again.
If this doesn't do the trick, try deleting the images.map folder from the data folder in the AuctionWatch directory, and resynch.
