I'm new to AuctionWatch and I want to use Sales Manager Pro. I downloaded it today, the download seemed to go okay, as well as the installation. At least until it came to the man screen and wanted to do synchronization and download templates. As soon as it starts to do this, it freezes and states a fatal error has occurred and the application has been closed.
Any ideas? Any windows I might need updated? I just used Windows automatic uodate and things still have the same error, but I am assuming its more of a windows problem? than with SMP? Help.

Hi indebookworm,
Uninstall the copy you have and download the new copy, if you did the Windows update after the initial loading of the Pro software.
You may use the Add/Remove Programs Wizard in Windows to uninstall the program. You do not need to worry about saving your batches and images as these will be retained, however, you may want to copy the batch and images folders to a separate location on your hard drive "just in case".
Once you have uninstalled SM Pro, you will need to reinstall it. You may use the install kit that you used before if it is still on your system, otherwise, you will need to download the install kit again (please be sure to select "save to disk" when downloading.) Before you begin the install process, please be sure to close any open applications you might have installed on your system.
Once you have reinstalled the program, you should be able to run Sales Manager Pro without error.

Thanks for the idea. I uninstalled SMP, even deleted the original .exe file. Restarted computer. Downloaded the file from microsoft. Restarted computer. Redownloaded SMP. installed. Same thing happened while installing.
I am thinking I might just give up and use the on-lne sales manager unless there are any other ideas? I am not a computer newbie or anything... just seem to be having trouble with this one program, though I'm still assuming it's a problem with my Windows 2000 set up somehow. *sigh*

Hello indebookworm,
Indeed, it might be something about your Windows 2000 setup. When checking the Windows Update site (click Tools > Windows Update in the browser menu), have you installed the latest service packs for Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer? They might help clearing this issue.

Thanks for the advice, but that was one of the first things I did when I ran into problems (see original post). Windows is "up-to-date". I ran a virus scan also, you never know. My computer came up clean. I ran out of ideas so posted here.
At least there is an on-line version of Sales Manager. The only reason I wanted to use Pro is that I have a dial-up account and wanted to keep my line free when adding inventory, etc. Plus, I have a decent volume of books I wanted to list. I'll keep trying to think of other solutions and if I get it working in the meantime will be sure to let everyone know so they don't waste time posting if I've already solved the problem.
