I try to list this morning however all my Profiles have vanished. All I have is the Default Profile left.

How I restore the Profiles without having to start setting new profiles at over again. I sell a wide variety of coins, so I have a great deal of profiles, it just doesn't seems worth a while to start all over.

There are some recurring problems with your software, such as deleted images while auctions are still going on.

I do like your service and after experiencing this inconvenience more than once I moved all my pictures to my website.

Do I need to launch my auctions from somewhere else also?

Hello,

Profiles are saved to the profile.dat file in the data directory of your SMPro installation. Have you perhaps moved this file, or deleted it inadvertently?

Please note, though, that SMPro creates a new profile.dat file if none is found at startup, so the current file might hold only the default profile (if its size is about 10K or less, then it must have been recreated).

You could also find your old profiles if you have a backup of the data folder; if so, just copy (restore) the old profile.dat file.

Thanks,

-Radu

Yesterday I listed a few auctions without any problem. I didn't move or deleted any Profile files, on purpose or inadvertently.

This just seems to be another problem with your software. Like deleting images on ongoing auctions.

I did a search and found Two Profile.dat files. I can email you these two files, so you can restore my original Profiles. Please give an email address where I can email those Two Profiles.

The first which I suspect are my original profiles is 290KB and the second is 5.5 KB.

I copied and pasted to Sales Manager Pro, however, it didn't load, since only got the default profile.

What is the procedure to restore my original Profiles?

If you notice I no longer have use image hosting from Vendio, because of the past recurring problems. Do I need to do the same with launching my auctions?

I do not have the time to create new profiles and spend a half or full day doing this operation unnecessarily.

Please restore my original Profiles or give me a procedure that will restore my profiles. Otherwise I will move to a more reliable system.

Thank you for your email and all the help this far.

Yes, I do have two installations of Sales Manager Pro. The first is the old version on which I had a different profile.dat file, when I was listing mostly miscellaneous items. The second one is the current version of Sales Manager Pro. That second installation had a different profile.dat which was mostly US coins. The current profile.dat file was created on 01/07/04 (yesterday) and only contains the Default Profile.

I open the first profile.dat on the old AuctionWatch directory, but that is not the correct profile.dat. It seems that your Sales Manager Pro had destroyed or deleted my new profile.dat of US Coins and stated a new one yesterday. Your program should have a safeguard that prevents deleting such an important file without confirmation from the user.

How do we recover the file deleted by SMP?

If there is no way to recover that file, since it is not on my recycle bin. I guess I will need to invest the time (one day or more) that requires to create that many profiles to migrating to a more reliable service. Sorry about that, I have waste too much time in the pass correcting error caused by your software such as replacing images of ongoing auctions deleted by your software.

Since I was pretty knowledgeable about your software, I had continue using it, despite those problems, but this error is the needle that broke the camel's back. I will spent the time necessary to create all the coin profiles instead learning a new software.

Arrivederci Auction Watch and/or Vendio! It was a nice ride!

Have a great day!

Hello xxxx,

I have just checked the file and it seems correct. I could see all your profiles (about 90 of them, I guess) and I've opened a few of them successfully.

One thought: could it be possible that you have 2 SMPro installations on your hard disk? As you mentioned that you found 2 profile.dat files, I wonder if there were not, in fact, 2 full installations. For instance, you might have the first installation under "C:\Program Files\AuctionWatch" (the old default location), and the second installation under "C:\Program Files\Vendio" (the default location since v5.0).

You could use Windows Explorer to check, or you can search for the "ampro.exe" file. If there are indeed 2 ampro.exe files, the good one should be that where the large profile.dat file is also located.

Please let me know what you found.

Thanks,

xxxx

I currently have 240 active listings and 459 closed listing and no images on your server. I guess I will finish these listings and start using a new software for future listing. Since I don't thing you will be able to help me resolving this problem. What about the next time that your software decides to delete the profile.dat again! You should have created a safeguard, so that this cannot happen without the user approval.

I have wasted all morning already.

Arrivederci!

Hello,

When I checked your listings, they all appeared to have their images hosted at 4coinshops.com, not on Vendio. Are there any specific items where you used the actual Vendio image hosting tools where they are not loading properly?

Christopher

Dear Christopher CS:

The problem is that overnight my profiles were deleted by your software, without any action of my own. I want to have this problem solved -- I want my Current Profile.dat restored, I don't want to spend the next day or two recreating profiles for coins I sell. I have waste already 6 hours, waiting for help.

Your software should have safeguards to prevent this from happening!

In response to you changing the subject. After three times of having my images of ongoing auctions deleted, I moved my images to a server that would not delete my images without my approval. Yes, now all my images are hosted by 4coinshops.com. Before I had the problem of images being deleted by Vendio on ongoing auctions, all my images were hosted by Vendio.

If you can't resolve this problem of restoring my Current profile.dat file, you just lost an old customer. I have currently 240 listings for $6,416.38 and 459 closed auctions for $8,318.18. I needed to list several auctions today during eBay's promotion.

I hate to leave, but I don't think I have any other options. What about the next time that Vendio decides to delete my profile.dat, would I again recreate the profile.dat file?

I will finish the auctions I have with Vendio all new listing will be with a more reliable software.

Thank you for your past service!

Hello,

I currently have 240 active listings and 459 closed listing and no images on your server.

My apologies for the confusion. It certainly wasn't my intention to change the subject, just simply address the most recent post you made to this thread. When you said that you currently had auctions running without images, I assumed that you meant right now, not some point in the past and were not actually dealing with this issue now.

Radu will be in touch on your profiles issue shortly.

Regards,
Christopher

What about the next time that your software decides to delete the profile.dat again!

That was the essence of my prior posting, I only mentioned the deleted pictures on ongoing auctions as a past problem. To emphasize that this is not the first problem I experienced with Vendio and that I stuck with your services up to that point, despite the problems I had experienced in the past.

I accept your apology, however that has not yet solved my problem, which is now going for over 9 hours. I did wanted to list during the eBay Promotion and it looks I will not be able to do.

What can you guys fix the problem instead of dragging the whole day!

Have a nice day!

Your former customer.

Twenty Six hour plus and no solution yet . . . How long does it take to solve this recurring problem?

Hello,

If the "good" copy of the profile.dat was from the other account, there is no way to restore the coin one back to its previous state.

What I'd like to point, though, is that SMPro does not delete files, and
there have never been such incidents before.

We are sorry to hear of your personal frustration with the program, but are unfortunately unable to offer any workarounds for you other than to backup your profile.dat after you recreate it - in case this one-off behavior appears again in your setup.

Regards,
Christopher
