I have been entering inventory items in SMPro this evening, but all of a sudden, I received this error message when I tried to create an inventory item:

"(X!) SMPro is unable to execute this operation. To continue, please save your work, close other running programs or restart SMPro and then try the command again."

I closed SMPro and restarted it again (several times), but as soon as I opened up my inventory manager, my pc started "grinding" and the same message popped up.

Please help!!

Hi there,

Have you tried restarting your computer? It sounds like there may be a memory resource problem. Can you tell us how many inventory items you have created in Pro? If you have a large inventory, you might want to consider saving in batches instead of inventory, due to resources needed to save a large inventory file.

Thanks,

Diana

I have only created about 150-170 items in my inventory (with many more to go), but have not uploaded the items yet. My pc has a pretty good bit of memory and an 80gb hard drive, so I figured it would work out ok when I started listing my inventory items. I like the smaller timeframe when creating my inventory vs. the online version. I did reboot my pc and reopened SMPro. It seemed to do okay after that, but took a few minutes to load my inventory once I chose that option. My pc still continued the "grinding" sound, though, when I chose the inventory option, but stopped once the inventory screen loaded.
As far as saving in batches, I have many items and need to use the inventory functionality of the program to help me keep my sanity (lol). I thought saving in batches would essentially be the same - either way the records reside on my pc. Is this correct?

OK, now I understand (duh!). The only records I would really need to keep offline are those that I want to use in my eBay auctions and eBay store, since I will list them as needed...and I can create my Vendio store listings in the form of a batch so they won't be on my pc, since the info will be stored in my Sales manager. I have many more Vendio items than eBay anyway. Thanks for the advice!!
I do have one more question, though. I am moving my Vendio store inventory items into a batch folder to upload to sales manager, but when I delete the inventory item from SMPro, will it also delete my online inventory (the same way it does the pics)? And will deleting a batch affect my online inventory or listings? I really hope not, as I have spent a long time working on my listings.
Thanks for all of your help!!
