Hi. After the successful workaround suggestion for the required description field, I'm now beginning to work with the batch importer for the first times. (It's great!)
Sometimes I would like to add items to a previous batch that has already been sync'd nd saved. I tried importing a new batch, validating, uploading/syncing, and then pasting the item(s) into the previous batch, resaving the primary batch, and deleting the new batch I used to add from. I tried it both before and after saving both as post sync batches. The copy and paste functions between batches work fine, but even though I am copying from a saved post-sync batch, the item I want to add pastes into the primary batch as "waiting" even though it has been sync'd. That is, the "synchronized" attribute in the source table is switched during the paste to "waiting".
Is there any way to get around this---or perhaps even an easier way to add newly uploaded items to previous batches that have already been uploaded so I don't get accidental duplicate uploads/auctions? Thanks!

Hi
I use the batch importer exclusively and have been for over a year.
I had the same problem as you and I found the easiest thing was to create file folders and place the items in the appropriate folders so that I know what is listed and what isn't. I leave what has not been moved to a batch in the default folder.
I, also, drag and drop items that I want to re-list in the future into a batch and give it a specific name. I then drag that batch into a folder I created under the batch folder that is entitled Future listings.
I have found that the only way I can keep things straight is to create folders and file the batches accordingly.
I am not sure this addresses your question but I hope it is useful information.

Of course we always recommend you save your work as often as possible and keep everythign organized by batch in folders. Many customers are able to tailor their work habits into a system that works pretty well for them. The key is really keeping everything saved and organized.
Best Regards,

Paula/NYbaglady-great tips! Thanks for sharing that! Unfortunately I do not trust either the software dependabiltiy or the downloading/reporting capabilities of Vendio to keep everything online in Vendio's system. All I really need is the saved batch with the date of scheduled upload until all the relists for the items are done. Great to hear I can drag and drop--I'll definitely use that, and maybe that is the answer to adding it in, too. Maybe the "synced" will come with the dragged item even though not when pasted. Thanks!!!
Darin--- I really would appreciate it if you or someone in customer service would answer the technical component of the question I asked. A nondescript comment about the virtues of organization is not really helpful nor does it address the problem. Thanks.

Hello Passedtothepresent,
When creating listings, either from scratch, or by copying, the upload status attribute is always set to "waiting". It will be set to "synchronized" only when the given listing is uploaded successfully.
Shortly, to answer your question, there is no way (and no workaround) to have the status preserved when copying items.

You know, there are always complaints about the inventory module and the fact it is limited and doesn't sync with smp local inventory.
The only thing I can think of is that all of the priorities are A priorities and inventory is kind of an A-Z.
In any retail setting, tracking inventory is one of the most difficult things to accomplish.
On-line it poses additional problems, especially in the stores. If you have an item, just one and it is in your inventory, if you don't keep it in your store your photos will be deleted. I realize it is something like 90 days but they are deleted.
I put everything in my store because in some cases, I am waiting to receive more from my wholesaler or I simply forgot to take it out when it sold. The actual inventory count I keep in the quantity available column. That way if I print off the pages, I can do a spot inventory.
However, I have over 600 items with more being received at least monthly. I do it all. Sometimes I get behind and that is where problems arise. Items get sent to auction when I am out of them. Yes, it is my error. However, Vendio must realize that they can upgrade the inventory module to help prevent some of these problems.
My fear is that they will up the fees and I won't be able to afford them any longer.
Sorry, didn't mean to vent but DARN! the banner thing and this never seems to get anywhere.

Paula, NY BAGLADY
I'm interested to know how you interact with customers when something's out of stock. I've had it happen to me twice--inadvertently--and the experience has not been a good one. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hi Michelle
Actually that has happened frequently the past 2 months. I have been having some serious senior-blond moments!
Recently, I sold a swimsuit that was already sold. I thought it had been a non-paying bidder. I didn't check and just launched it. Someone bought it at $24.99. I told her she could have any suit I had plus a 10% discount. She choose a $44.99 swimsuit in a different size and I gave her a cash 10% discount on her $24.99. I lost money on the whole thing but I have a happy customer.
When I find this kind of situation, I am truthful about what happened and bend over backwards to make my client happy. There is one exception. If they are rude, I do the minimum to rectify. I don't always go to the extreme that I went to on this swimsuit. I just had a "feeling" about this bidder.
I hope that is helpful. I do try very hard to make all my customers happy and live up to my motto of providing outstanding customer service.
That being said, I don't tolerate lies or rudeness. I will block the buyer if they lie or are rude.
I hope this helps. I am sure it is more than you wanted to know.
