Hi
I just tried to edit my custom template and I can't. Why is this? Was I in the wrong place? This template should be fully editable. It was created by me and it occasionally needs up dated. Please don't tell me I have to create a new template...
Please...
Also, why doesn't the spell checker save my "add words?"

Hi Diana
1-Nothing happens because there is no edit button... That's why I wonder if I am in the wrong place? I was in template preferences.
I only use my store template that I created 2 years ago or when ever that (the store template) became available.
It is the only one I use.
2-The add words is on-line. I keep adding the same words all the time; my user name; some product names, etc.
3-And I continue to have the problems with the inventory moduals... I did as Sonya requested, ie, clear cache & cookies. It is usually late at night or very early morning when this happens, but sometime it is during the day. It is a very frustrating situation.
4-The banner continues to be a problem. I have given many examples in the past. Is there an information update?
5-several times recently photos are missing when I check a listing even if I refresh. They just show the red X. The photos are still on the Vendio server. Here are a couple of auctions this happened on:28972124422, 897213157

This template is not fully customizable. The fully customizable templates are not marked with an asterick (*). The ones that aren't are marked by with an asterisk (*).
Which words are you talking about? Can you give me a sample so I can see if it's working? I'll test from this end on your account and then get back to you with the results.
Also the photos in the auctions you listed look fine. There is no X on any of the images.
You'll need to reference or fill me in on the other issues that you referencing.

Hi Diana
Please review my postings dated:
03-28-2004 7:06 pm; posted on March 10, 2004 08:46:10 AM; 03-19-2004 3:51 pm; Please read ALL of this one: posted on January 25, 2004 06:16:13 PM.
These things have been going on for months and it seems to be that nothing is being done. I experience these (all of them) at least 3 times a week. You can imagine my frustration level. Especially now when replys take anywhere from 24 hours to a week.
When I mentioned that I was being blown off, I was told that was not the case. Please put your self in my place.
I have to say that if things continue to not be fixed, I will have to find another avenue for conducting my business. I am not threating, that's useless. I am simply stating that I cannot continue at this frustration level.
It appears, from my end, that nothing is being done about this. One of the things I learned about communication a long time ago is, "it doesn't matter what message is sent; it is the message that is received that is important." The message I am getting from Vendio is that I am being ignored. That is not a good message to give a client. Mind, that may not be the message your are attempting to send; it is the one I am receiving.
Food for thought: it takes weeks, maybe months to gain a customer. It takes seconds to lose one.
When your spell checker is open, you should see a link called 'manage personal dictionary'. Please click on that and add your words -- then close out the window and the spell checker, and then run the spell checker again. Your words should then be added to the dictionary.
To edit your template, in Template Preferences, you have to click on the Template Workshop. That is where templates can be edited. When you edit a template, you can save it with the name you originally gave it and it will override the older version.
The checkout banner problem is intermittent. Refreshing your screen fixes the problem -- I cannot consistently replicate this problem, if you have some more examples where it keeps happening, let me know what they are.
I have never been able to replicate the issue you are having with inventory. I'm not sure what your cookie or security settings are -- perhaps if you lower them, this might help to clear up the problem.
May I ask who your ISP is?
Regards,
Sonya

Last year we were still able to html in pro as well as our preferences. That is what I need to edit.
Do I need to create a new store template and add the html or is that something we can't do anymore?
Thanks
Paula
There is still an HTML editor in Pro. What are you trying to add, specifically? Templates that you customize have to be done online, there was never a way to do them in Pro.

Hi Sonya
Yes, there was a way to edit preferences and html in you template in SMP.
I believe it was v4 but it could have been a late v3.
On the left of the screen there were buttons, one was edit preferences. I would click there and scroll down until I reached an html editor where I changed my html. The next time I synchronized, the on-line preferences would be up dated. The template I use was created by me and a web-designer. I used the very first store template and added my html to it. Surely you can see that?
I would like to edit that template. When and why did Vendio make it un-editable? The html is copyrighted to me. At least everything except the store part of the template.
If I want to change my html, you are saying that I need to create a new template... right?
Also, you tell me: When your spell checker is open, you should see a link called 'manage personal dictionary.' I just ran the spell checker on this and there is no 'manage presonal dictionary.'

Hello
The last comment on this question is dated 4/5; today is 4/11.
Why has response time gone from 24 hours to 6 days?
Please respond to my last post. I wasn't making idle conversation! I MUST edit my template or create a new one.
I just attempted to spell check this and received this error:
Run time error has occurred.
do you wish to debug?
Line: 0
error: 'document,anchors.0.offsetTop' is null or not an object.
Do you wish to debug?
If you think I am experiencing these errors because of my local compurer, please let me know.
My isp is Direct Way satellite through Earthlink. If you believe this is the source of the problem, please let me know. But for heaven's sake, please respond to posts or do away with type of "support"

The spell checker is working for my system and I'm running the newest version of SMPro. I also turned off all the anti-Virus software and spam, banner, and pop-up blockers. I'd like to clarify some verbage. The are ayou want to edit in the Spell Checker says "Dictionaries". Clicking this button will take you to a spot where you can add or customize the spell checker database.
I'm sorry I can't help you with the Template issue as that is out of my expertise. From what I gather, it sounds like the template will need to be recreated but I don't know for sure.
Best Regards,

Hi Diana
Thank you for your response.
What about the run time error? I just attempted to spell check this and got the same run time error. I have no antivirus, banner or popup blockers running.
I did see the Manage Personal Dictionary and will use it when I can run the spell checker again. I have also deleted all the temp internet files and cookies; rebooted; etc.
If the template is beyond your expertise, are you going to have someone who understands how the templates contact me or are you going to simply stick with what you said and I am simply out of luck?

Hi Paula,
Templates cannot be saved with HTML in them -- I've checked your account and the HTML that you customized with your web designer is actually stored in your default text box so it's not actually a template. Anything stored in that box will appear in every template, after the item description area. It looks like you've gotten the templates and the default text box confused with each other. Previous versions of Pro allowed you to edit some preferences in Pro, and synchronize Pro to update the changes online. We changed that since it caused too much confusion so in order to edit the default text, you must go online to My Account > Custom Listing Text and then synch Pro when you are done. Basically the reverse of what you previously had to do.
Regarding the run time error, are you getting this each time you try to spell check your listing? Please paste the text you are trying to spell check or email it to me at [email protected], and I will test it from here.
