Hi,

This is important information for anyone who relists auctions thru vendio.....you may be paying additional ebay fees!

I am a SM Pro user who recently took advantage of ebays "penny gallery/subtitle days" and listed approx 200 auctions, including the 1 cent subtitle on almost all of them. Some auctions didnt sell so I relisted them thru SM Pro/Sales manager.....making sure I removed the subtitle on each relist since it was no longer being offered at the special price. When I received the emails from ebay confirming the listing.....I had been charged 50 cents for a subtitle on each relisted auction, even though I DID NOT select the subtitle option on the relist...the subtitles had been removed!!!

When I notified Vendio customer service, they apologized and said they are aware of the problem and have notified ebay about the issue of the subtitle not removing itself upon relist...even though it appears removed. I was told the only way to remove the subtitle charge is to now relist directly on eBay.....which means I will be charged 10 cents for each auction picture by vendio since they wont be launched thru SM Pro!

I wish I had been warned of this "problem"......it has cost me alot in unwanted fees and will cost me alot more in the future. In order to relist unsold auctions and get reimbursed ebay listing fees if they sell the second time around, I will either have to pay approx 30 cents per auction for the 3 pictures most of my auctions contain or 50 cents for unwanted subtitles! It might have helped if there was an "ebay preview" on all auction relists so you can see ALL charges. Hopefully this info will help other vendio users so the same doesnt happen to them!

Hello,

That is correct, eBay has made no provision for removing a subtitle during the relist process through their API (back door access for third party listing services) system.

While we do submit the items with the subtitle field cleared, they are not setup to properly remove it at this time. We suggest contacting them directly to request refunds on any fees charged as a result of this issue.

Also note that there is no true way to re-list something directly from Sales Manager Pro. Only the closed section of the online Sales Manager is where you can relist previous items. Everything launched from the offline Sales Manager Pro software is considered a brand new listing.

Regards,
Christopher

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but I think its a real shame it takes a message board to let members know this "problem".....not everyone reads the boards. Why hasnt an announcement been made to ALL Vendio subscribers telling them they will be billed for these expensive ebay services they dont want since you are aware of the problem? We have no way of seeing that we are being charged fees until it is too late!

Please explain with more detail about the sections you can relist auctions....is that noted in the SM/SM Pro instructions? If an auction is relisted thru the POST SALE-"unsold items" section of the online sales manager, is it considered a relist that is eligible to recover ebay fees if sold the 2nd time around?

Thank you, Nancy

Yes, when you relist items from your closed section (and they DO sell the second time around), you will be able to request a refund for your fees.

Here are the proper relisting procedures (from the closed folder) :

1. Check the box next to the item(s).
2. Click the "Relist" button at the bottom of the list (or at the top of the list in Post-Sale.)
3. On the next page, you will be able to edit the relists by clicking the "Edit" link next to them (note this must be done one by one.) Be sure to save your edits after you make them (do not just use the "back" button.)
4. Once your edits are made, you may schedule or launch the items.
Best Regards,

I'm sorry for the confusion.

The subtitle is the only feature I know if that isn't allowed to be relisted.

Yes, the item is eligable for relist. If you click the Unsold link and then select the item and click the relist button, you will be able to get refunded for these fees.

Hi,

Im sorry but your response still does not answer my questions....

It is the 3rd party (Vendio)responsibility to coordinate(update) their software with ebay, not the other way around....true?

1.why isnt vendio notifying members of this problem?

2.you are telling members to relist directly on ebay to avoid getting charged the 50 cents subtitle fee which then causes members to pay vendio 10 cents per photo. Why would vendio charge their members 10 cents per photo so they can relist auctions on ebay to avoid this problem? Either way, it costs members additional fees over Vendios software glitch. Please advise how these extra fees can be avoided. Will Vendio refund the 10 cents per photo?

Thanks for any help you can provide, Nancy

Hello,

We are currently working with eBay regarding this problem -- they're aware that the API doesn't allow for the removal of subtitle upon relist. This issue should be fixed soon, once it is you may be more successful applying for a refund of the subtitle fees from eBay. Regarding your second inquiry, this would be a question for our Billing Specialist -- we recommend you send her an email at [email protected].

Regards,

Sonya

I just have to pipe in. I don't usually read this board as I don't use SMPro.

But I reported this exact problem AND the results of my live chat with EBay on how to handle this AND the suggestions I got from Vendio CS almost immediately after the Subtitle promo auctions ended, as I ran into it back then. I posted on the Ebay Outlook forum.

My original thread was even referenced by Vendio CS (Sonia I think) in a reply to a later complaint about the same thing.

SO WHY NO GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM VENDIO TO WARN OTHERS?

WHY NO NOTATION ON THE RELIST/EDIT PAGE?

WHY NO FIX TO THE EBAY PREVIEW? (I DID do an Ebay preview before relisting mine and it did NOT show a fee for the subtitle!)

This is an expensive problem and all of the proposed workarounds are tedius. At the very least you could warn people BEFORE they run into it and have to stumble across the information on one of these boards.

I can answer the how to avoid this problem....

Don't fall for ebays cheapo promotions.....stop using them, then they will be forced to offer a better promo. <grin>
