Hi, I am trying to recover from a catastrophic cable modem installation and my SMPro program has been strangely affected.

When I look at the preview of my listings, all kinds of things look wrong. This is going to sound very peculiar, but the text doesn't view correctly (sometimes letters are missing or spaces that should be between words are missing) and I can see portions of HTML commands showing up in the body of the template. When I re-check my work, there are no errors, nor do the errors show up when the item is actually listed.

I have disconnected the modem and restored the computer to a few days previous of the installation and I am working on getting help from the cable company to see what is wrong but I don't know what to do to get my SMPro back to normal. I have Windows XP and the restoration hasn't helped with the problem, SMPro is still in a mess.

I completely downloaded SMPro from scratch but it hasn't helped. Do you think it would help to completely uninstall it and reinstall it and if so, how would I uninstall it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Genie

Hi Genie!

You may use the Add/Remove Programs Wizard in Windows to uninstall the application. You do not need to worry about saving your batches and images as these will be retained, however, you may want to copy the batch and images folders to a separate location on your hard drive if it will make you more comfortable with this process.

Once you have uninstalled SM Pro, you will need to reinstall it. You may use the install kit that you used before if it is still on your system, otherwise, you will need to download the install kit again (please be sure to select "save to disk" when downloading.) Before you begin the install process, please be sure to close any open applications you might have installed on your system.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you!

Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your quick reply!

I uninstalled Vendio as you instructed and then downloaded it again. But I am still having unbelievable problems. The same things are happening and when I try to use the HTML editor, I actually do lose letters from my text and I am getting very strange commands inserted in my listings.

For instance, this is one I found that replaced my simple underline command (<u>: <UDESIGNTIMESP=8414>

This is another one I found that replaced a simple paragraph command (<p>: <P dsigntimesp="8197">

This is one that I found at the very end of my text: &lt;/BODY</p>&lt;/BODY

Do you have a clue about what is happening? All I tried to do is install a standard cable modem and it has been a nightmare ever since. I am completely confused about this but even if you can’t solve my problems, I am wondering if you can suggest what might be the problem so that if I need to call in a repair technician, I can give him some idea what to look for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Genie

Hi Bob, I just looked at my last reply and those "smiley faces" don't belong there, just to let you know that I'm not seeing them, too. Thanks! Genie

Hello,

Are you copying and pasting HTML from another program, such as Front Page?

Please keep in mind that the previews in Pro might not preview your items correct as it's not a real HTML preview but if you upload it to Sales Manager and they preview and launch okay, you've got all your HTML correct. Just make sure that you have all tags properly inserted in your descriptions and that you make sure all the tags are closed.

Regards,

Sonya
