Periodically after we create a new listing and then click ok the application crashes.
It appears that the data we just entered is saved but it is a real pain to have to restart the application all of the time.
Here is the error message we get:
AppName: Ampro.exe AppVer: 6.0.0.0
ModName: dhtmled.ocx
ModVer: 6.1.0.9211 Offset: 0000D39E

Any ideas why this is happening?
Also what can we do to correct it?
Thanks.
Dennis

PS Our OS is Windows XP.
IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.040919-1003

Hello,

When you get this error does it state that it's a Run Time Error? If so, do you remember what number it was?

You may want to try uninstalling/reinstalling Pro the next time you get this error. If it persists, please let us know.

Regards,

Sonya

As far as we can tell it doesn't state that it is a run time error.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the application and we still have the same problem. Any ideas on what to do next?

Hello,

Try downloading a new copy and installing that. If you continue to get this error, let me know, so I can escalate it to one of our Pro specialists.

I have been having this problem for the last week.
Through trial & error, I've figured out that it only crashes after "previewing" the auction - if I edit the auction without clicking the preview it doesn't crash. But every time I preview it - it crashes when I click OK or Cancel.

I have AMPRO installed twice on my computer (2 selling accounts), and I have the identical problem with both installations.

It may have something to do with a Microsoft Security Update I installed on my computer last week - ?

Hello,

The crashes that you encounter are likely related to a conflict between Windows system files. Nevertheless, we do recommend that you check periodically the Windows Update site (click Tools > Windows Update in the Internet Explorer menu). Install the critical updates and Service Packs the site recommends, especially those for Windows and Internet Explorer.

If the program is still not working properly, you might try to uninstall SM Pro and then to install it again. During the uninstall process, you might be asked about removing shared files; please choose to remove those too.

Thanks,

-Radu

Hi Radu,

Thank you for your response.

I spent the weekend uninstalling (both installations) and reinstalled SMPro.
It still crashes after:
a) I "preview" an auction AND
b) press OK or Cancel - no matter what I look at in between.

I can survive short term without previewing the auctions - but I need a long-term solution.

I appreciate your help...

We continue to have this problem even after doing everything you have requested. It only happens after we do a preview.
Any new ideas?

Hello,

it seems that you experience this program crash after you installed some updates for your Windows operating syste. Can you please tell us what version of Windows are you running? And also what updates did you install lately?
This would help us replicate and solve the issue.

Hello all,

If possible, please go to the "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Triedit" folder and check the version for these 2 files:
- dhtmled.ocx
- triedit.dll

To see the version, right click the file, click Properties and then Version.

Thanks,

-Radu

Hello,

It is possible that the DHTML library files are no longer properly registered on your system. Please register them again, thus:

Go to the "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Triedit" folder.

Register each of the DLL and OCX files in this directory:
- Right click on it
- Choose "Open with..."
- Click "Choose program..."
- Click "Other"
- Find regsvr32.exe. It is in your "Windows\system32" folder.
- Click Open.

Please let us know if this helped fix the Preview isssue.

Thanks,

-Radu

Hi,

My software is also crashing in a similar manner. The three files are present in the common files directory, but the file to link them to is not present in the system32 directory.

Any more suggestions?

I am running WinME.

Hi Glen,

Can you let us know if you have tried all suggestions presented in this thread? Also, have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Pro? Did you recently change anything about your system?

Thanks for getting back so quickly.

The program just seems to be generally unstable. I have reinstalled
several times to no effect. Nothing has recently changed on my system. I am running WinME on a 1.5 GHz
Athalon-based system with about 512 Mb of ram and lots of open disk
space. The system very seldom locks up even when running a lot of
Microsoft Office apps and so forth. I am using the latest Mozilla browser.

This is a new installation, and it has never been stable in spite of
uninstalling and reloading a couple of times. I downloaded the program
via a 56K dial-up connection and would rather not re-download just on
the off chance that there is something funny in the downloaded file.

I have received a couple of specific error messages possibly referring to memory locations, but I can't recall the specifics. When this happens, I see a sort of diagonal crosshatching in the window overlaying the info in the window. Very odd. I'll record the specifics if it happens again.

The system seems to synchronize properly with the Vendio server with no
problem. I can go through all of the steps to create a listing, but I
have never successfully saved on. Just now, I had everything done except
the category listing, but when I made that selection, the entire
program disappeared from the screen without any error message. I could
not restart the program and found that it was still running but not
responding. I had to end that task in order to continue.

Just now, I managed to save FIVE listings in a batch in various ways
with no problem. Then, as I tried to edit my default profile, the
program crashed with the message: SMPro was not able to execute this
operation. The same thing happens when I try to create a new profile.

So, at this moment, the program seems to be saving listings properly in batches, but I can't add new profiles or edit the default one.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Glen

Hello,

It does seem odd to me that you would run into this problem if you haven't changed anything about your system. Do you operate behind a firewall? Have you had previous versions of Pro on your computer and if so, did they run okay or did they give you the same problems?

I will alert our pro expert to your problem for any more advice/workarounds to try.

Sonya

Hello Glen,

Windows Me memory management is less advanced than that in newer Windows systems. This is what we'd advise:

1. Please go to the Windows Update site (click Tools > Windows Update in the Internet Explorer menu). Install the critical updates and Service Packs the site recommends, especially those for Windows and Internet Explorer.

2. Install also Visual Basic 6.0 SP5 Run-Time Files. The link to this kit is:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/VBRun60sp5.exe

3. If the program is still not working properly, please uninstall and install SM Pro again.

Thanks,

-Radu

mine is freezing if I use Item specifics often

I can use it once in a while with no repercussions, but if I try it on several in a row, it will freeze up-we are using windows 98SE, because it is the only OS that will run your software on this machine.

any one else having this problem?

I am running Windows ME and I have been experiencing crashing and freezing. It always happens when I try to edit the "Profile Mangager" and it also typically crashes when I try to work with Inventory items. I have tried the "fixes" discussed above, but the program is still unstable and crashes.

I was hoping to migrate more of my business to Vendio and was hoping to rely on AMPRO to do it. Unfortunately, the last few weeks have been very frustrating.

Flash,

I am also running Windows ME and had various stability problems and runtime errors with AMPRO. It seemed to be more reliable as I used it but still would lock up or disappear from view from time to time. I was running a version of Visual Basic 6.0, but NOT the very latest. Since downloading the latest version of Visual Basic at the link below (just over 1MB) and installing it, AMPRO has been absolutely reliable. I'm assuming this solved whatever problems there were between AMPRO and my system.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/a/d/5ad868a0-8ecd-4bb0-a882-fe53eb7ef348/VB6.0-KB290887-X86.exe

At this point, everything was working fine with 256 MB of RAM, but I added a memory monitoring tool and was able to see that just about all of my system resources were being used when I was running AMPRO. Today, I went out and spent $50 on another 256 MB to bring me up to a total of 512 MB and I now have about 212MB free while running AMPRO and Mozilla Browser at the same time. This leads me to believe that AMPRO is fairly "memory hungry" and probably wanted more memory than I was feeding it to be really happy.

Anyway, while I think upgrading to the newest available version of Visual Basic actually solved my problem, I think it's worth spending the money to give yourself a RAM cushion on the memory front.

Ampro is not memory hungry

IT is a memory PIG....always has been, I really wish they could do something about that, it is so clunky. That is on the very top of my wish list for this product.
