I just downloaded your most current version of Sales Manager Pro successfully. But when I try to syncronize I get the above message of Synchronization Failed. Please advise, Thanks, Mary

Hello Mary,

Something is blocking the SMPro software from being able to connect to the web. Typically this will be the Norton Internet Security program (the Firewall portion.)

http://www.eucasafari.vendioweb.com/firewall/

If you go to the above URL, you will see a short stepset on how to configure Norton Firewall to allow the SMPro software to synch without error.

If your not running the Norton program/s, simply configure whatever program you are running for a Firewall to permit the SMPro software to access the web.

Regards,
Christopher

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have disabled my Firewall and I still get the same message and it will not syncronize my files. Please advise. Mary

Hello Mary,

Which firewall program did you end up disabling?

Is it possible that you have another firewall application running in the background?

(ie some users will have both Zone Alarm and Norton internet securities loaded.)

Christopher

Hi Christopher, I'm helping Mary. I am Debra Fuller and you helped me with the same exact problem once a few months ago, but I can't remember what you told me and a handful of other to do to correct this problem. I am sitting here with Mary now as we try to figure out what to do.

Mary has Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 12. I have disabled it entirely to see if we could get her darn syncronization to work but it didn't. She also has Windows firewall, but it is disabled because of her Trend I suppose. Thanks for your quick response!

Hello Debra (and Mary),

Try enabling the Trend application again - and once enabled, configure it to allow the SMPRO software to connect to the internet.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/trend.mspx

The above URL will help you through the process of adding a program to the safe list. Its geared towards setting it up for a Microsoft program, but the process will be the same.

The SMPRO software is located at:
C:\Program Files\Vendio\AMPro.exe

Once setup to allow the program access to the web, restart the computer - then connect to your ISP and try the SMPRO software again.

(just to confirm, are you using the Netzero dialup access numbers? - if so, you could also try another local number. Its a long shot, but it may help.)

Christopher

Thanks Christopher. I will try this tomorrow and let you know if it works. Yes, Mary has Netzero dialup service. We'll also look into that. Deb

Good Morning!

Well, we have spent about 2 hours following your advice and instructions. We were able to find the Trend Micro PC-cillin area where you allow website to access your computer. In the allow box I typed in C:\Program Files\Vendio\AMPro.exe as you instructed. It made no difference. We still cannot syncronize.

I also found a place on NetZero to instruct (netzero) to ALLOW pop-ups from Vendio which it will now allow. We have changed the internet connection phone numbers 3 times and still we cannot synchronize our Sales Manager Pro with the website.

Also I tried to download the XPress Image Publisher. I got the following message: This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the Package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Window Installer package. Maybe that message is significant and will help you help us find the problem.

So far we are still laughing, but it is starting to sound hystarical.
Sincerely,
Deb and Mary

Hello,

The error message on the XP Publisher usually comes up when you try to install it and it has already been installed without error.

Try simply following the directions on that page where you downloaded it, to use it.

When you get to the part where you choose where you want to send the images, be sure Vendio is listed as an option. This is actually a Windows XP program that is already on the computer, so your really just trying to add Vendio to the list of places to send images to. MSN Groups is usually the only default option here.

------------

As for the Sales Manager Pro software, if you get this error message the 'second' that you try to synch, meaning it doesnt go through 'any' part of the synch process prior to failing, then something on the computer is still blocking its access to the web.

Or your simply not connected to the internet at the time that you try to synch, but im guessing youve already verified that part.

Next, take a look at all of the programs that you have listed in the taskbar down by your clock. Use the right-click on your mouse to click these icons and exit/close/disable anything that you don't have to run to be online. (aka, just dont close netzero, but exit everything else that you have the option of exiting.)

When finished, go ahead and retry your synch to see if it goes through.

If this persists, you could also check your startup folder for Windows to see what is loading when you turn your computer on, to see if there is anything here listed that would block programs from being able to access the web.

Christopher

Hi again Christopher.
Okay, we called Dell Tech support to find out if there was any other firewalls installed on this computer and they said no. I made sure the Windows firewall was disabled by the way. The sync problem doesn't even start. We are immediately given a message Synchronization failed-bad response from server message as I told you before. So we are being halted before we even begin.

Secondly, I tried to download the Xpress Image Publisher to my own computer at home and had no trouble downloading it even though it has already been downloaded and installed on my computer.

Yes, I followed the instructions on the download page of Xpress Image Publisher to access the pictures to publish them to Vendio Image Hosting site, but the Vendio image/link is not even there as an option to use.

Okay, now honestly, Christopher is a dial-up connection just to slow? Are other dial-up customers having similar problems? Or is it just NetZero that is the problem. If there are other dial-up services that are compatable with Vendio, maybe we need to look at those options. Please give us your honest opinion/advice.

Thanks Again,
Deb and Mary

Hello,

Having a dialup account shouldnt be a problem. Its actually one of the primary advantages of using the SMPro software.

As for the XP Publisher issue, you get an error message when you try to 'install' it again, when its already installed. Not simply if you try to download it.

The next thing I would try is editing the startup group in Windows.

This can however get a bit tricky.

Why dont you email me directly at '[email protected]' and if you have a cell phone or a phone number that isn't on the same line that you guys are using to connect with, let me know what that number is.

That way we can try a few things while on the phone without having to disconnect each time you try to connect in SMPro again.

Regards,
Christopher

Christopher I have the flu right now and need some time to get better. Mary lives in the next town and I just don't feel like doing anything but sleep. Thanks for understanding, Deb

Christopher I am back from the dead (I'm finally over the flu). I will email you so we can plan a time to complete this and hopefully get Mary up and running.
