1. Am I reading it correctly that to use the Inventory edition I have to list directly online?
2. That Sales manager pro only works with the merchandising edition?
3. And, that merchandising edition doesn't allow an easy way to transfer items from store to auction but inventory edition does? Is that correct? Or is there no easy way to convert listins on either edition?
I did read the pdf files for merchandising and inventory edition.
Then, I read the help information on SMPro. And, it also has an inventory management section.
4.But, it looks like you have to enter things in batches to list and in the inventory section if you want to track by SKU. Is that correct? Can't I send a batch listing to inventory?

That is correct, the offline Sales Manager Pro is not intended for use with the Inventory Edition of the Sales Manager.
The inventory edition of the Sales Manager is not setup specifically as a means of relisting items from one venue into another - something that you can do from either.
In the SMME program, if you simply list the item without storing it into inventory - you would change the venue your posting to by clicking to relist the item, then edit + change venue + resubmit.
In the SMIE program, you would simply call up this item in inventory (rather than clicking to relist from the closed/post sale pages) - click to submit and select the desired venue.

Please answer just one more question...
I don't want to make a mistake with which way to go.
With the inventory edition I could check up to 50 items at a time to convert to store...correct?
And with the other one I have to do it 1 at a time?
I do a lot of switching between store and auction so this is important to me and if one can do it in bulk that is the way I need to go (even though I only sell 1 of each item).
In both versions of the program, if you relist from the closed/post sale pages - the process to move it from auction to store or store to auction is exactly the same.
The only thing that would make it easier to switch the venue when you list your items is going into inventory, where you already have these items setup with the details needed to post to either location - then select and launch directly from inventory.
This however would be the same if you listed your items from the basic inventory module in the SMME program - you just wouldn't have access to the bulk editing and auto-launch profile tools that are available in the SMIE.

I hate to sound dense, but are you saying that no matter what I have to change the items one at a time from store to auction and back again?
I can live with that if there is no other way, but if one can do it in bulk as part of the edit process, then that is the way I want to go.

I was confused by Ed's response to another posting where he said you couldn't edit venue in bulk in merchandising edition...making it sound like you could in the other one.
"no matter what I have to change the items one at a time from store to auction and back again?"

One of the SMIE programs selling points is *not* that it makes re-listing items from the closed section and changing the venue easier than it is in SMME.
Listing and relisting your items from an inventory module makes changing the venue from one listing to the next occurance easier - and if your going to list via inventory to make that process easier, you should use the Inventory Edition so you can take advantage of all of the other features it has above and beyond the SMME.
I shouldn't have used the word "relist". I never relist anything. I list in auction once and move to store where I repost as need be. And, if there is a special listing day I pick out my best and list them as an auction or fixed price.
